Can Information On Ptcl Website Be Trusted?
Once a senior PTCL Official said the Government turned T&T into a corporation but forgot to induct corporate culture in it. It is quite true. Except for air conditioned customer service centers or reducing waiting period for a new connection what else has the nation achieved through this change of label? Nothing except high PTCL profits but by increasing tariffs. Has the staff behaviour, public dealing or efficiency increased? Answer every one of us knows well. As near the end of every financial year the nation sees mad rush of development of roads streets footpaths but in a hip hazard manners, leaving electric and phone poles in the middle of the road, only for the purpose of exhausting the unspent budget likewise there is a mad rush of computerization of government departments. It is said it is the man operating any sort of technology which matters not the technology itself. With same old faces still sitting can there be any real practical change by just putting a computer on a government servant’s table? A friend of mine a few years back posted his letters depending on the postal rates shown on the postal department’s official web site. He had to pay penalty. He approached the concerned ombudsman that he may be refunded Rs. 4/- penalty charged from his because he mailed his articles exactly as per rates contained on departmental web site. His this request was not found genuine. But my said friend still remembers that the Pakistani nation could only know what an ombudsman means when the first ever case decided by the then Federal Ombudsman Mr. Justice Sardar Iqbal came in the press. Someone complained his telegram did not reach the destination. T&T defended that complainant had agreed to its terms which included that if telegram could not be delivered department was not responsible. Mr. Justice Sardar Iqbal did not agree to this contention and ordered refund of Rs. 2.11 telegram full fee. This news item opened public eyes what an ombudsman was. Today most of the Government web sites are un-updated. The information placed on those can very often not be depended upon. For example for two months November&December 2005 the Punjab Ombudsman site displayed two separate names of Ombudsman. At one place name was that of Mr. Justice Sajid Sipra who had retired since 15 month ago and on other place name of that of existing ombudsman. Till my writing today 09 January 2005 going at PTCL Site ptcl.com.pk/officials_gms.html shows Mr. Akhtar Jameel as General Manager Phones STR-III Karachi. Same PRCL site at ptcl.com.pk/list_khi_str3_telecom.html names the same General Manager as Mr. Shamsher Ali Khan. Which one should one take as correct and on which out of two information one should take as an authenticated government information. We do not need computers. We still need old manual typewriters but with total overhauling and replacement with new faces.

Death Bed It was early in the morning at four, When death knocked upon a bedroom door, Who is there? The sleeping one cried. I'm Malakul Mawt, let me inside. At once, the man began to shiver, As one sweating in deadly fever, He shouted to his sleeping wife, Don't let him take away my life. Please go away, O Angel of Death! Leave me alone; I'm not ready yet. My family on me depends, Give me a chance, O please prepense! The angel knocked again and again, Friend! I'll take your life without a pain, This your soul Allah requires, I come not with my own desire. Bewildered, the man began to cry, O Angel I'm so afraid to die, I'll give you gold and be your slave, Don't send me to the unlit grave. Let me in, O Friend! The Angel said, Open the door; get up from your bed, If you do not allow me in, I will walk through it, like a Jinn. The man held a gun in his right hand, Ready to defy the Angel's stand. I'll point my gun, towards your head, You dare come in; I'll shoot you dead. By now the Angel was in the room, Saying, O Friend! Prepare for you doom. Foolish man, Angels never die, Put down your gun and do not sigh. Why are you afraid! Tell me O man, To die according to Allah's plan? Come smile at me, do not be grim, Be Happy to return to Him. O Angel! I bow my head in shame, I had no time to take Allah's Name. >From morning till dusk, I made my wealth, Not even caring for my health. Allah's command I never obeyed, Nor five times a day I ever prayed. A Ramadan came and a Ramadan went, But no time had I to repent. The Hajj was already FARD on me, But I would not part with my money. All charities I did ignore, Taking usury more and more. O Angel! I appeal to you, Spare my life for a year or two. The Laws of Quran I will obey, I'll begin SALAT this very day. My Fast and Hajj, I will complete, And keep away from self-conceit. I will refrain from usury, And give all my wealth to charity, We Angels do what Allah demands, We cannot go against His commands. Death is ordained for everyone, Father, mother, daughter or son. I'm afraid this moment is your last, Now be reminded, of your past, I do understand your fears, But it is now too late for tears. You lived in this world, two score and more, Never did you, your people adore. Your parents, you did not obey, Hungry beggars, you turned away. Instead of making more Muslims, You made your children non-Muslims. You ignored the Mua'dhin Adhaan, Nor did you read the Holy Quran. Breaking promises all your life, Backbiting friends, and causing strife. >From hoarded goods, great profits you made, And your poor workers, you underpaid. Horses and cards were your leisure, Moneymaking was your pleasure. You ate vitamins and grew more fat, With the very sick, you never sat. A pint of blood you never gave, Which could a little baby save? O Human, you have done enough wrong, You bought good properties for a song. When the farmers appealed to you, You did not have mercy, tis true. Paradise for you? I cannot tell, Undoubtedly you will dwell in hell. There is no time for you to repent, I'll take your soul for which I am sent. The ending however, is very sad, Eventually the man became mad With a cry, he jumped out of bed, And suddenly, he fell down dead. O Reader! Take moral from here, You never know, your end may be near Change your living and make amends For heaven, on your deeds depends. If this poem inspires you, It can help someone too. ____________ At least take sometime, and do not make it ban And send it to as many people as u can. What do you have for your END? Take Care with: The END The End
Training Model On Working Capital
I have created a student training excel file which examines and the difference that sales trends makes on cashflow: In the scenario the company has the same profit in 2 separate months but has considerably better cash flow from the month where the company is on a declining trend in sales (due to divestment in working capital). The model proves this back by using good old T accounts Free for anyone to use, hope it helps: http://www.gaapworld.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=2 Helping accountants to find answers www.gaapworld.com

2.5 - Financial Reporting - Revenue Recognition
Hi Everyone, I'm from Singapore and my lecturer give me this question to try out at home. But I am not sure the approach to it. Can anyone help me? Thanks! The question goes like this :- A manufacturer of motorcycles, Riley Ltd (RL), supplies motorcycles to a dealer, Autocycle Trading Pte Ltd(ATPL) on the following terms: 1. ATPL is responsible for insuring the motorcycles on display in the showroom 2. When a motorcycle is sold to a customer, ATPL has to pay RL the factory price of the motorcycle when it was first supplied. 3. ATPL can only return the motorcycles to RL on the payment of the fixed penalty charge of 10% of the cost of motorcycle. 4. ATPL has to pay the factory price for the motorcycles if they remain unsold within a four month period 5. RL cannot demain the return of the motorcycles from ATPL. a) Identify the possible points of revenue recognition concerning motorcycle sales in RL's case. What is the most appropriate point to recognize revenue? b) Discuss the reasoning for your answer.

SHAiTAN'S MEETING: (Read even if you're busy) Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said, "We can't keep Muslims from going to Mosque." "We can't keep them from reading their Quran and knowing the truth." "We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their Allah and his messenger Muhammad." "Once they gain that connection with Allah, our power over them is broken." "So let them go to their Mosques; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Allah and his messnger Muhammad." "This is what I want you to do," said the devil: "Distract them from gaining hold of their Allah and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!" "How shall we do this?" his demons shouted. "Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered. "Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow." "Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles." "Keep them from spending time with their children." "As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!" "Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice." "Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive." "To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays music constantly." "This will jam their minds and break that union with Allah and his messenger Muhammad." "Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers." "Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day." "Invade their driving moments with billboards." "Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes." "Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. " "Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night." Give them headaches too! "If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere." "That will fragment their families quickly!" "Give them story books to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Salat." "Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on Allah's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead. "Keep them busy, busy, busy!" "And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences." "Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Allah." "Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause." "It will work!" "It will work!" It was quite a plan! The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Muslims everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their Allah or their families. Having no time to tell others about the power of Allah and his messenger Muhammad to change lives. I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes? You be the judge!!!!! Does "BUSY" mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke? Jis qadar bhalai karsaktay ho karo.. Jitni ziada karsaktay ho karo.. Jitno say karsaktay hay karo..Aur Jub tuk karsaktay ho karo..
