Icap Autumn 2004 Module-a

Hi Guys, Finally the ICAP's final exams are over (a huge sigh of relief), now in this forum I want students of Module A to express their views on the paper as how they felt being given the paper for the first time of ICAP and how were their papers. Functional English: The paper was easy, but I have never seen such a paper in the last 10 years or so. At first glance it was a quite disappointment for vocabulary learners (including myself). Moreover no idioms, no synonyms, no antonyms (Oh God!!). I think I wasted my time learning around 2000&600 vocabulary. The questions regarding comprehension&precis were very typical (never seen such stuff before), although I quite enjoyed doing this. Essays were easy and so were other parts. Quantitative Methods: The paper was like "shetan ki aant". 25 questions 3 hours 2 subjects-----that's too much. I bet the examiner won't himself be able to solve such a lengthy paper. Economics&Finance: I was almost shock to see the paper almost every article in the paper was taught by our teacher Mr.Subhani (his students will be really praying for him). Even in the last 3 classes after the send-up test, when the course was running like a rushing steam, he touched only the selected topics from the macro&financial section, which eventually came in the paper. You are really great sir!

What's Best? Ca Inter Or Icma Before Articles?

First of all very much thanks to "Pracs" for giving me an appreciative response and clearing a lot of doubts which were present in my mind; but not now ! Does an ICMA passed student is given preference for articles training or CA Inter students generally in Chartered Accountancy Firms? And what would be the best to do; ICMA or CA Inter before going for articles training. The more important question which I would like to ask from you that whether the institutions from where a student passes CA Inter arrange the articles training for all of their successfully passing students or this is on the student's own try to get such kind of training on the basis of his or her own knowledge and intelligence after passing CA Inter? I'm asking all above questions with reference to Pakistan. adeel

"Pracs"; I'm very thanful to you for this help. I'm a poor student who can't bear expenses of visiting Lahore again and again for taking information about CA. Well, I've visited Lahore and have a lot of information but still there are some general kind of problems which I'm facing right now at this time before deciding that whether I should go for CA or ICMA and if CA then where? PAC (Which is only in Lahore and Peshawar) or SKANS (Which has a branch in my city also). As you have said that good academic background and the attempts to pass CA Inter are kept in view before entering the contracts of articles training by the Chartered Accountants' firms. I would like to put a question here that whether a CA Inter passing student who have qualified CA Inter in more than 1 or 2 attempts would be given even merely an opportunity to do articleship in some Chartered Accountancy firm or he or she would not be able to secure even articleship? If you have some information about PAC; I also would like to know that whether PAC arranges articleship for all of it's CA Inter passing students or every student whether he or she has earned the certification from PAC, SKANS or whatsoever it is; would be required to gain such opportunity on self-try-basis? I've secured first division in BCom; and have average mind and intelligence; but have a lot of courage; self determination; confidence and support by my parents and the supporter who is supporting me to do CA or ICMA. I want to ask in your opinion that wheter a student like me can do CA or there are some inherent qualities required to do CA which must be present in that person going to do CA? adeel

Ca Experienced Preferred Or Acma Experienced?

Here is a general question. Who possesses more deep knowledge; CA or ACMA? If you say that CA then I would like to comment on it that a CA even don't have any how know about various courses of CMA being taught in Pakistan. And then if you ponder over this fact than you would come to know that after passing ACMA there is no need to do CA Foundation and even one year of training is also exempt but if a full fledge Chartered Accounant even after completing his articles training if wants to earn ICMA degree; he or she must have to go for 3 semesters (P-2, p-3 and p-4) of CMA. What's this? It's meant; a CA Experienced can't compete an ACMA experienced. And a CA does not have deep knowledge as an ACMA has. Just merely the difference between these two is that a CA is offered articles but unfortunately ACMA not. Is it? "Pracs"; I'm very thanful to you for this help. If a job requires Senior Manager or head for it's Accounts Department and company receieves a lot of CAs and ACMAs applications for this post. Suppose; company selects two candidates; one is CA and other is ACMA. CA has 4 years post qualification experience. Note; CA also has completed 4 years articles training. It means here CA has more than 4 years experience due to 4 years training in articles and 4 years experience after completing CA. And ACMA has 8 years post qualification experience. What do you consider in the light of your own experience to whom preferecen will be given in this case where both have equal experience; CA or ACMA? adeel

"pracs" Is Multan (my City) Good For Articles Or ?

I've no words to thank you. My heart knows how much easy and light I'm feeling after discussing all the matter with you. OKay, I'm joining SKANS here in my city. I live in Multan. And I'm the student who don't just claims to pass CA Foundation in first attemp; I'm the student who would definitely pass it in just one attempt because, I've better concepts in Accounting and Taxation even my english is also a little bit better. Let consider I've completed my CA Foundation in 2 years. OKay, at this stage whether I should go to Lahore for articles training or it is enough that I should join some firm in this my own city, Multan? And let me know that why people talk about Lahore, Lahore and Lahore. Is Lahore is everything? Even Multan also has a lot Chartered Accountants firms; though Multan can't compete Lahore and Karachi; but here also Audit of Limited and private companies are performed and there also Chartered Accountants are required. So, clarify me, that it's better to do training in Multan living in my own native city; or Lahore or Karchi? Because, after completing CA I would definitely get some handsome job anywhere in Multan also. And this is my last question. I've no any kind of difficulty and there is no pending query.
