I would like the members to share their experience of XPSP2 and the problems they are facing.
For me it had problems accessing Outlook Web Access and when I uninstalled it (the whole Service pack) it permanently disabled active x. I am still trying to find out ways to get around it without reinstalling the OS. )

Win XP SP2, has somewhat slowed down my system's(Celeron 2GHZ,256DDR) performance,



with SP1, the starup time and shutdown time was far less,and now the programs run slow too,,

but on SP2, internet has become faster and its security centre is also very good

It just caused my 3d games to run slow. But the problem vanished when I installed Xp with integrated sevice pack 2. It improves your browasing as well.

Added security in place of functionality. Thats been the motto for SP2, as far as i am concerned.

Security features in this piece of software is pretty impressive, though i must say that this has also raised compatibility issues with certain software like outlook, norton antivirus and some firewall programs.

Yeh sirf posts ki count barhaaney ka koi faida nahin, 'cos you wont win any prizes. Contribute something useful/meaningful to the forum or just keep quiet and read the discussions like many of the other lurker members.

Finally I was able to identify the causes and solve the problem with activeX without reinstalling XP. It was a good exercise.<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

For information of all those concerned who do not want to update to XPSP2 and still want to improve overall security of their system, following is a list of updates you should install
Caution 1. SP1 needs to be installed before these updates. 2. It is a good idea to follow the KB sequence when installing the updates. 3.You are responsible for your own actions!!!<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

hi...yaar these updates will take a lot of time...is it?
try to find some other solution yaar...coz most of us are not using cable net...these updates really makes the net speed slower...and browsing is almost impossible...

When I used to have dialup, I'd connect to the Windows Update site in the night say 11-12pm and viola.... in the morning all updates would have downloaded and installed. Ofcourse you'd need to do nothing on the net on that day.
Another solution is Bigfix http//www.bigfix.com
This software checks your PC for any vulnerabilites and downloads appropriate updates. The problem is that it downloads one update at a time and does not have a batch mode.

NB. Unfortunately we still lack good ISPs and cybernet has been leading the way till now in download speeds. If your ISP cant give you, say 4-5kbytes per second download speed, change it. (
