ICMAP to conduct course on Internal Auditing

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan is conducting a course on Internal Auditing starting from the third week of November, 2004. The following is a press release in this regards by the Institute:

“Dear Members,

The ICMAP regularly organizes different courses to keep our members and students updated with the latest developments in the corporate world. After the introduction of Code of Corporate Governance there has been increasing demand for Internal Auditors in the job market. To further improve skills of our members and qualified students in the area of Internal Audit we are planning to launch a course.

Course outline is placed below:

– Construction of internal audit plan and circularization to auditees
– Conceptual awareness of operational audit, financial audit and management audit
– Case payment vouching techniques with appropriate relevant documentary evidences
– Journal vouching with relevant support
– Evaluation of internal control
– Evaluation of “BRA” i.e. Business Risk Assessments
– “COSO” based audit providing integrated framework for establishing internal control
– “CSA” control self assessment techniques
– Analyzing organizational frauds and conflict of issue cases
– Auditing major operating business segments
– Sales and trade debtors
– Purchase and trade creditors
– Treasury management
– Inventory management
– Fixed asset
– Production
– Investments
– Long-term borrowing
– Schedule verification techniques forming part of financial statement
– Audit working papers
– Analytical review of financial statement
– MIS review techniques
– Communication skill for drafting reports
– Auditor role with reference to “EDP” audit i.e. electronical data processing
– Formation of audit committee and its operational role
– Audit methodology for specialized nature of investigations
– Auditors role in capacity of internal compliance officer and consultants
– Duties, responsibilities and powers of internal auditor
– Internal auditor coordinating role with statutory auditor in accordance with the requirement of international standard of auditing guide-lines

Total Duration of the Course = 75 hours
Spanning Over = 15 sessions (7.5 weeks)
Training During a week = Twice a week (5 hours per day)
Days = Saturdays (1500-2000 hrs) &
Sundays (1000-1500 hrs)
Venue = Head Office, Karachi
Launching = 3rd week of November
Course Fee = Rs.15,000/- (including course material lunch/dinner & Tea)
CPE Hours = 30
