salaam all,

mr. amjad_736, if u want to stay in banking, sector, then good options will be
at degree-lwevel MBA, MA(Economics), MA(Economics&Finance),
specialized-qualifications CFA (if interested in investment mgmt.); or diploma of IBP, or other similar courses

talking abt CIMA,ACCA etc, these r good for corporate sector mainly.

salaam all,

dear mr. amjad_736, i feel tht ur interest in CA n ur graduation in banking n finance r not in harmony. i mean tht ur interest is in CA. u shud ve joined ICAP for CA or ACCA. i feel tht CA is best utilized in corporate sector. in banking sector, CAs/ACCAs r mostly rerlated with internal audits, taxation n other rerlated aspects of banking-business, but NOT in the core banking operations. eg, u will not find CAs in treasury mngt or investment mgmt or etc etc. unless additional qualification is acquired(no defiling intended)

ur graduation in finance n banking will pave ur career towards core financial operations, whether in banking, or in insurance, leasing, investment mgmt, mutual funds n etc etc etc.

so i fear tht u will ve to sacrify either ur interest in CA, or, ur graduation by join ACCA/ACA after it.

this second option is not feasible by any means, in terms of ur time, money, n efforts. plus, CA will suck another 6-7 yrs.

i will suggest to get a masters after graduation in business/economics/finance and/or specializations, like CFA or diploma from IBP etc tht fitts in financial institutions.

this iz my point of view, n it is open for criticism for all fellows, but plz avoid kicking up a CA vs ACCA war here. mr. amjad_736 needs a constructive n healthy responce from us.

Dear Mr. Amjad

I appreciate farhan on what ever he tried to convince u & i agreed with him..

It looks as u r very upset about ur future....now listen, u r doing bBA in bank & fin. it is very good then after do ur MBA in banking & finance..with IBP diploma...it would be very very good combination in banks...IBP u can do without any tutor...during the only three years of MBA u have to do IBP.then u before or during can be absorb in banking industry..Why do u prefer CA......CA are getting now a days...25,000 to Rs 30,000 for fresh qualifed....& u can earn the same salary very easily with certainity becoz CA is uncertain....then after take two to three jump u will be AVP in four years....then u can do CFA after that as well it is enough & easy route

It is some thing that i m experiencing in banking industry...........

Regards

salaam all,

dear mr. amjad_736, i reply u in order

1. why have u done CIMA (INTER)

ANS CIMA (Inter) means tht mr. ehrar has passed the second level of CIMA qualification tht is called INTERMEDIATE.

3. i m not familiar with IBP.

ANS IBP means Institute of Bankers Assoc. of Pakistan. it is a pakistani body. many bankers, specially senior ones, r its mmbrs. it is one of the key qualifications to succeed in banking sector.

4. FARHAN BAHI SAID I WILL HAVE TO SACRIFICE ONE OF MY OPTIONS i.e. BANKING &FINANCE or CA, Y IT IS SOO CANT I DO BOTH OF THEM I HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT THESE R 2 DIFFERENT THINGS BUT I WANT TO DO CIMA bcz it is an international qualification .

ANS dear, CA is a different ball game. it is the leading n most powerful qualification in corporate world, but not good for banking (or financial sector broadly). every business has at least two aspects. one is its core operating wing, second is its administration n control tht includes its audits, taxation, legal affairs, dealing with govt agencies etc. CA will b good for second wing only. u will find them working in tax, audit, dalings with external audit firms, CBR, etc. but CAs r not good in operating wings of financial institutes eg, hard core banking principles, investment mgmt, portfolio analysis, managing the treasuries, mutual funds, leasing affairs, insurance matters etc. these fields themselve need their respective specializations. eg, ACII for insurance, CFA for invsetment mgmt, n portfolio, diploma of IBP for consumer banking etc.

so it will b not wise to do CA n finance simultaneously. u shall end up having ur feet in different boats. none of these complement the other.

same is the case for ACCA, CIMA, ACMA. these r leaders of corporate world mainly. they ve limitations in financial sector. these r very powerful qualifications but cannot b utilized fully in financial institutions.

5. farhan bahi said that CA will take 6-7 years , my plan is to do BANKING AND FINANCE along with CIMA IN the first 3years and then do CA or acma ,i think only then i will be offerd a good job otherwise i dont want to be an cashier in a bank .

ANS i think the answer to preceding question will sufic here too. CIMA/ACCA/ACA/ACMA will b mainly good for companies. u will b paid good salaries also. but in banks, do not think for it. instead, do wht is good for this sector. ie CFA/IBP/finance/economics etc

FARHAN

live, n let live ...
Dear Amjad

Q. why have u done CIMA (INTER
Ans I have done CIMA second level only & hope to finish it in near future .I m busy in teaching as well after job......let see when i finish it....to be a ACMA(UK)

Q.2. WHAT SORT of job u r doing right now and how muh salary and where
ANS IM a Manager in Audit of a bank ......& dont ask ever age from a girl & earning from a man .......

The rest of the questions has been informed well by farhan

I appreciate ur knowledge farhan .......well done.......
But i dont know y he is feeling confusion to do lot of things..SI it practically possible to do ACCA/CIMA/ACMA/BAninf & finance & CA to gether.never..when amjad u will come in practicle life.or when u will take admission in any professional body then u will notice the dept of it.........It takes resonable time to come out again for another qualification........It does not mean not to do any thing....
if he does CIMA then he will be exempted in ACMA(PAK) 100% , SMA(Canada) 100%, now Institute of chartered accoutnants(ICAEW) & CIPFA & CIMA is goiong to be merged then he does not need to do CA pak..becoz..........ICAEW..."name hi kaafee hay.." ..loolz
