Haven't really got a clue as to some of these - my best shot at an asnwer is
1, Ratio decidendi
- further definitions
1. any finding of law necessary to reach a decision on the issue before the court
2. the rule that can be extracted from the case
3. the proposition of law which decides the case, in the context of the material facts
4. the answer provided by the case to the question of law
Note that a ratio is not a bold statement of principle independent of facts. The material facts of the case are part of the ratio.
To find the ratio, you need to take into account
1. the issue (the legal question)
2. the material facts
3. the decision/ruling
4. the judgeâs reasoning
