Can someone tell me about the criteria for THE BEST MEMBERS of this forum, bcz I cant figure out the criteria from the list of BEST MEMBERS provided by BOB.

ICAP is the best.
Members should ensure that choosen members should comprise people who possess the following qualities

1- Detailed knowledge of the Forums requirements- ie Should adhere to the guidelines.

2- An understanding of the nature of this Forum and its relationship with Accountany Community.

3- Drafting skills and an understanding of the query.

Notice- Quality matters not the Quantity

First of all, Forum or the opinions as a whole is not important, it is how you value yourself that is important.

You all are very valuable. Yes, you do deserve more than you are getting, and in fact, the same is true for me [p], as well. I have just come to expect very little out of forum because it is the original scrooge. We R all equal neither of us r the best. The blessings that count are family, happiness within ourselves (a clear conscience comes to mind), security in our own abilities. Rejoice, and be glad.

DS,with a ratio of 4.07 posts per day (one of the highest), its a matter of days you will have a different title under ur nick. as long as u contribute the way u have contributed so far, i m sure nobody will ever question the number of posts.

as a matter of fact, i never liked the idea of having a best-senior-junior distinction over this forum, what we can have instead, is a pool of members who adhere to the rules DS mentioned and whom we all as a community most benefit from.

i dont want to rank members here, but i would like to quote some names which in my opinion are most valuable for me and for this community as a whole. their names are, Pracs, Goodman, Derivative Trader, Guybrush and Desert Sleet. members like SM Raza, Ophie, Avg Joe, Mr Whaapaa have also shown great committments.

Ali's recent contributions are praiseworthy, in some posts he lost me completely, the above post is one of them. I would be interested to know Ali's criteria.

What we say here are our opinions, you dont have to agree, opinions are opinions......not facts. like i might not agree with ur "quote" which is your opinion, not necessarily a fact, i won't question you for having your own opinions and i won't like someone commenting on mine, unless asked.

I really appreciate your help around here. I barely know you, and you do so much for this Accountancy Community just by being here with the dedication to preserve this environment.

I do have an opinion on this subject. First, I appreciate the perspective you bring to this - particularly how you have addressed some of the issues here.

I want to draw your attention towards another subject.

Let me say that while I believe there are fundamental, systemic problems with the way things are beeing administered in this forum and that there is great room for improvement, It still seems to me that lack of Moderators has as much to do with problem as there isnt anyone to instill in our members a sense of responsibility and appreciation for their contributions. Learning is hard work that requires a discipline that our some members are lacking. Members these days are taught to be more in tune with their rights than with any responsibilites. They are no longer taught to "be seen and not heard", rather they are encouraged to express there opinions as they were indespensible facts of life. While this may make childish members, who are too lazy to instill discipline, feel better, it makes it extremely difficult for Admin to manage when you get over 1400 members, who have never been properly taught conveyed the Guidelines of this forum.

As for this system, I agree that the ship cannot be turned around in 1 or 2 days and I also don't think only having only 1 moderator for the entire system is necessarily the best way to do it. However, I do think the key to improving our forum is increased competition at all levels - between members, between guests, and between moderators.

This system enjoys a monopoly - a thing that Admin ,for good reason, goes to great lengths to prevent from occurring it. Monopolies,in general, are considered unhealthy and undesirable because, they lack competition.

The only way to get rid of this monopoly situation such that members are truly in competition with others and discuss everything while behaving within the prescribed rules is to make moderators. The only way to do this is to ask some members (whom admin wishes) to volunteer.

This is a perfectly fair and sensible proposition. If I didn't understand the union politics behind it's oppositon, I would, on the face of it, think that this was Liberal Democrat idea to "level the playing field" and provide "equality of opportunity". But in this case, the Democratic party is curiously opposed to this idea that would probably stablize this Accountancy Community.

I don't think I'm being cynical when I suggest that the reason for this uncharacteristically anti-egalitiarian position of the members is that there isnt any one to guide them. You will find moderators in most of the forums then why isnt this forum among there list.

Exactly how real competitive reforms will be implemented is a matter for debate, but I think that until such reforms takes place, the system of this forum will remain exactly what you would expect from a unionized monopoly - low quality and non-competetive. Many of our members today are trapped and are unaware of the rules of posting and non-serious members have even suggested that they have any agenda beyond the noble one of "Freedom of speech", thus, they avoid any accountability for their failures and protect their own monopoly. This is classic "special interest politics", but because the there unions are so large, and there isnt anyone else than Admin to control them so they are beyond reproach in the eyes of many, lest one be accused of being a flamer(topics like flirting, pornstars) - which is about like being called a puppy killer.

I don't blame members, I blame our system which doesnt have any Moderators who could firmly oppose any attempts to make real competitive reforms - which is the surest way, in my mind, to make a lasting improvement in this forum system.

Having no Moderators is the reason for the inevitable failure that we've seen in the past months and it's time responsible people recognize that by having no moderator they are blocking any meaningful reform and we are paying the price. Our properly placed reverence for the Moderators ought not blind us to this reality.

So I Request Admin to Assign Moderators so this forum can be Set Right Back On Track.

How can you say its a copy paste job,.. seems to be an original piece to me, or do you know some thing we don't
Most of the members are good.
We also have some extra ordinary members like Pracs, Maani, Azeem Shah Khan, Guybrush, Mr Whappaaaa etc.I don't know what "best" means to you but I define best as helpful, friendly, polite and problem solver not creater. There can be two main objectives of a good member
1. To give an openion(to help)
2. To get an openion(to get some help)
That's what a forum is all about.

Appreciating the best members is a good idea because the other also try to improve themselves. I have already seen that when we discussed, some months back, about people involved in fighting each other, every one was against them and after that many senior mambers are trying not to get involved in any "scandle" that can demage their raputation. I still remember that (maybe pracs or someone else) told me to avoid those persons who are creating problems and they will stop by themselves or admin will take care of them. I really liked that idea. Why should we care any way?
I like this forum very much due to freedom, admin rarely interfares and there are no moderators to impose there own decisions, so we should took advantage of this and should behave like professionals.
Dandey ke bagair kaam karna achha nahi lagta kia. We are not childeren so that a moderator should be there to tell us the rules.

Assuming you're specifically talking about - " if I, or any other member of this forum decided you need an objective lesson in reality." - as that's not even a real specific course of action(I'm guessing your're taking that as a threat) it's hard to say were getting at, but sometimes people do need a lesson in reality...and rants happen. I think you're reading too much into this....my words did come across as meaning that everyone in this community needs moderator....and I'll leave it at that.

Except for a couple of bona fide nincompoops, I think everyone on this forum is of equal standing . A person doesnt neccessarily have to be a information database just to be considered 'valuable'. Shughal mela sab chalta hay..[D]. I will however laud the more regular members over here for their patience and perseverence in matters of dispute, which is seldom seen on the internet.
