“People who have the power to make things happen don’t do the things that ordinary people do, so they don’t know what needs to happen.”

Sounds Interesting….isnt it…..

For the days to come, I’ll post The Laws of Power……

the truth is that whether you agree with them or not (ethically and morally……..Nauman please please……)….they are true to a good extent and if you want to attain power, some of them (not all) will be helpful….

So……read them and discuss them……..indeed it will be a debate…..
i’ll be especially looking forward for the comments of Guybrush, Pervez, SM Raza, Nauman, Ophie and The One (if he wishes to join us)

1. Never outshine the master. Make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.

2. Always say less than necessary. The more you say, the less in control you appear.

3. Win through your actions, never through your arguments.

4. Learn to keep people dependent on you. The more you are relied on, the more power you have.

5. When asking for help, appeal to people’s self interest, never to their mercy or gratitude. Self-interest is what makes the world go round.

My friend u can simply write down the name of the book '48 laws of power'. A very good book mate but u dont need to state the laws on the forum, just state the name of the book. Moreover, these are the laws of how to be powerful. If you disclose them to everyone else, how can you be powerful. Keep the laws to yourself and let others discover them. Remember, the framework of this book is 'keep information to yourself as he has it is more powerful than the one who doesnt. I hope u get my point.

6. Use absence to create respect and honor. Too much circulation makes the price go down.

7. Do not commit to any side or cause but yourself. Me, Myself and I should be your motto.

8. When you are weaker than your opponent, choose surrender. Surrender gives you time to recover, time to wait for your opponent’s power to wane, as all power does in the end.

9. Be royal in your own fashion. Act like a king to be treated like one. By acting regally, you make yourself seem destined to wear a crown.

10. It matters not who wins or loses but who wins.

Yours comments are welcome…..but I have a difference of opinion with you…..and the end result will be that neither of us will be willing to accept each other opinions…….so why bother a debate

11. Get others to play with the cards you deal.

12. Despise the free lunch, even if you’ve cooked it yourself.

13. When you mirror your opponents, doing exactly as they do, they cannot figure out your strategy. The mirror effect bamboozles them, making them overreact.

14. Set a goal, and when you reach it, stop. Going too far can be too much of a good thing.

15. Accept the fact that nothing is certain and no law is fixed. The best way to achieve power is to be as fluid and formless as water, after all, that formed the Grand Canyon.

Hey Bowman,
where did u get this idea from ?????

16. Never put too much trust in your friends; learn to use your enemies.

17. Conceal your intentions. Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions.

18. So much depends on reputation. Guard it with your life. Reputation is the cornerstone of power. Once it slips, you are vulnerable, and are likely to be attacked on all sides.

19. Court attention at all costs.

20. Get others to do the work for you, but always take the credit.

Bahi.... bus bethay bethay idea aa gaya...... I read these more than a year ago and just thought to share with you guys

21. Make other people come to you. Use bait if necessary.

22. Infection Avoid the unhappy and unlucky.

23. Use selective generosity to disarm your victim. A timely gift-a Trojan horse-will serve the same purpose.

24. Pose as a friend, work as a main-chancer.

25. If one ember is lit, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out.

26. Create an air of unpredictability, so that no one is ever sure what you’re going to do next.

27. Do not build fortresses to protect yourself. Isolation is dangerous. It cuts you off from valuable information.

28. Know who you are dealing with-do not offend the wrong person.

29. Play a sucker to catch a sucker-seem dumber than your mark.

30. You gain by finding a rich mine and mining it deeper, than by flitting from one shallow mine to another-intensity defeats extensity every time.

31. Play the perfect courtier. Master the art of sycophancy, and flatter and yield to your superiors while asserting power over others in the most oblique manner. In the power game, a straight line is not necessarily the shortest distance between two points.

32. Do not accept the role that society foists on you. Re-create yourself by forging a new identity, one that commands attention.

33. Maintain a spotless appearance by using others as scapegoats.

34. Keep your words vague but full of promise. Promise all things to all people.

35. Make action plans with boldness. Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily obfuscated with more audacity.

36. When you act, act effortlessly, as if you could do much more.

37. Play to people’s fantasies. Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can conjure up fantasies are like oases in the desert everyone flocks to them.

38. Discover each man’s thumbscrew. Once found, it is a thumbscrew you can turn up to your advantage.

39. Never seem to be in a hurry. Always seem patient, as if you know that everything will come to you eventually.

40. A small mistake is often made worse when you try to fix it. It is sometimes best to leave things alone.

41. Create compelling spectacles. Striking imagery and grand symbolic gestures create the aura of power-everyone responds to them.

42. Think as you like but behave like others. If you flaunt your unconventional ideas, people will think you only want attention. It is far safer to blend in and nurture the common touch.

43. Anger and emotion are strategically counterproductive. But, if you can make your opponents angry while staying calm yourself, you
gain a decided advantage.

44. Do not get stuck in the past of your own making. If you manufacture your own version of the past, you can discard it whenever it doesn’t suit you.

45. If you allow your opponents to operate freely, others will succumb to their influence.

46. Work on the hearts and minds of others. Coercion creates a reaction that will eventually work against you. You must persuade others into wanting to move in your direction. Never forget, however, that the direction must always be your own.

47. Preach the need for change, but never reform too much at once.

48. Appearing better than others is always risky, but most risky of all is to appear to have no faults or weaknesses. Envy creates silent enemies. So it is smart to occasionally display harmless defects, in order to appear more human. Never appear too perfect. Only the gods can seem perfect with impunity.

With the above the Laws are complete....unless someone wants to add more
