Pakistani private TV channels have appreciably done a good covering the recent earthquake. They try to coop BBC or CNN but as far as standard of their coverage is concerned that appears to be still in its infancy. For example Kamran Khan of GEO is a well updated and a serious intelligent TV news compare but his though nice work does not produce desired results due to slackness of team working in the field. For example GEO/Kamran questioned a very informative question. He question that there is a report that Army has sprayed the city with fumigation, has this reduced the dirty smell in the city. The field report did not touch at all this very information question and told about how the relief work was being done. Kamran Khan on phone talked with Chairman of Builders Association Karachi in connection with earthquake resistance capabilities of high rise in Karachi. The Chairman as usual told that all building made till 1987 are confirmed and certified built according to B-2 standards. Had it been BBC or CNN, keeping in view the importance of the issue both these would never have failed at the same time calling on phone representatives of Shehri or Ardeshir Cowasje to give their counter comments on the comments of Chairman ABAD

Agreed, it will take some time for them to take of, its better from the days of PTV Khabarnama, you must agree.
