dear sumaaan,
i needed some assistance from u regarding actuarial sciences.Currently i m doin MFC-A,but that was an optional choice for me and i wanted to go Actuarial sciences.
i hav some question as;
1. there are less no. of students in Actuarial because
a.its difficult
b.less people know about it
c.there is somekind of risk n uncertainity like CA where ppl fail in majority.
2.According to state life ,we have to study privately here and thay dont give u a professional degree here but a certification that is 100% equivalent to your degree. Is it better to do here ?i think the candidates after their inter should not go for this because they still need an academic and campus-related enviroment where they can learn more .
3.i want to go either for USA or CAnadian track,so how can i have info. abt the universities in US & canada which offer Actuarial sciences. Are there any educational counselors in the city which can help me in the Admission and Visa Process.

Kindly send me THE ACTUARIAL SCIENCES HANDBOOK , the same u sent to umair , at kalrashivsagar@yahoo.com

Waiting for ur reply.
thanks.<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

there are two primary institutes in the world, the Institute
of
Actuaries, London and the Society of Actuaries, USA. Their respective
website addresses are http//www.actuaries.org.uk and
http//www.soa.org
All information regarding exam system, syllabus, fee structure, exam
schedule can be obtained from above sites. Further, 5-6 years is
considered
good speed to attain fellowship.

hi, Saqar

i think you dont need any educational counselors to get the admission and visa. you can get lot of information from UK embassy in Pakistan regarding student visa. you can get admission via email.

assalam-o-alaikum everyone,
I am your new friend Aamir. I have just passed my intermediate exams with 82% marks. Now I have to decide my career. My father says that i should opt for actuarial sciences at state life. I am also agree with that but i am hesitating beacuse i think that it is very difficult and i have no aptitude in it rather i have a very nice aptitude in physics.
Kindly tell me if i opt for an engineering career and i will do MSc in electronics engineering what should i expect to get financially as compared to an actuary or an accountant.
Also please e-mail(captain_aamir@hotmail.com) me the handbook of actuarial sciences, whic you sent to other friends.

There is no doubt that Actuaries and Chartered Accountants are paid well above average Engineers and Doctors, etc.

However, a large degree of your future depends on your own ability and the most important thing, your determination. I know a some engineers who earn relatively high.

I'm not the person who knows much about engineering prospects (B.E, BSc, MSc), but what I've come to know lately, the future of engineering in Pakistan is Satellite and Telecommunication Engineering.

I said I 'came to know', I didn't post my own opinion... The reason I was given was quite rational... There have been a lot of news that AT&T etc will be making a breakthrough in Pakistan, and therefore a whole new telecommunication era will begin where we'll have tough competition between AT&T and PTCL... However, that too depends on the PTCL privatisation issues and all...

But as I said, I don't know much about it, so I can't give my own opinion.
