A lot has appeared mostly from highly educated people, intellectuals and columnists showing their anger as to why some people have shown their sympathies on execution of Saddam and why some have termed him Hero. After the execution I saw on a Channel an Indian village where almost whole of the village young, old, women were too sad on execution of Saddam. Some spoke before camera with tears and some with anger. The village is inhabitant both by Muslims and Hindus. According to Channel about 70 new born till then had been given name Saddam. These educated people say Saddam was a dictator and killed Miliions. Was he the only dictator? What was Shah of Iran or Marcos Fernandos in recently history? P in war.

All these educated critics forgot one thing which in fact all Muslim rulers have either deliberately forgotten or ignored is feeling and psychology of the common man. People did not know about Saddam much. They came to know about him when he stood against US and did not showed his cowardliness. About Zulfiqar Bhutto still there is confusion. Some say he had to be taken on stretcher to the gallows, some said he walked himself. The ordinary man saw Saddam walking with his stiff neck to the gallows, faced the death bravely. It is his standing against US which made him Hero in eyes of common man. It is the hate against US in eyes of the common man mostly in Muslim and developing counries which made Saddam Hero otherwise people never termed him ordinarily as Hero.

We have a section in our society whose religion is to shift their loyalties with change of wind. The politicians as well as people attached with media both include in this segment whose moto is “lifafa trade”. A senior columnist in this regard is termed as airblow of civil aviation as it is said if one keeps a watch on his daily columns and as soon as the reader finds him criticizing the ruler and praising some other out-politician, take it as guaranteed a change is in the offing. . A very famous law expert some year said the Government of the then Chief Executive General Musharraff does not need to hire expensive advocate to defend in the court the case of dismissal of Nawaz Sharif, it only produces before the cournt a copy of the very first column the concerned columnist wrote immediately on coming out of Prime Minister’s House 4-5 days confinement. On Taliban showing tough resistance when US attached with cluster bombs, these lifafa columnists praise so much the Taliban and Osama. When Taliban had to run away, same very journalists useged almogst abusive language for them. When Saddam showed similar resistance these very people praised Saddam in their columns. When after two weks Saddam forces were captured they termed Saddam as the biggest traitor and coward of Islam. Answers to two mysteries might not come in my life but I am sure history will one day reveal it as it is a natural phenomena.

The first one is on 12 December 1971 General Niazi in Dacca was saying the enemy will come crossing my dead body. Only after 4 days he was surrendering. Indian General Arora in an interview said that he could not understand why Pakistan army surrendered when he saw the huge logistics when entered into Dacca. Was General Niazi a coward? Certainly not. He was from the old breed when one became a General after a lot of experience. Then what happened in Dacca?

The second mystery is about US attack on Iraq. I was then working abroad in the Ministry of Interior there. It was fourth or fifth day of attack when in the Ministry I alongwith two Pakistani ex-servicemen was sitting viewing BBC live. The TV was showing an outskirt of a city. As usual as is with every city, in the outskirt there were only two three scattered houses. About 400 years from camera heavy shelling was coming on so called colliation forces. The BBC representative was talking with local US commander who said the resistance if unexpected and very heavy. For the last 24 hours we have not been able to mark an inch. Seeing this it appears war with prolong long and that is why more reinforcements are being asked from US and UK etc. Our lifaf columnist wrote columns on this bravery of Saddam. All of a sudden by end second week Saddam forces fell. Later it was revealed some close relative of Saddam who was the commander of hig special guards sold him out.

The history tell has whenever Muslim got defeat it got from hands of its own people who sold out. This happened in Bangladesh through Maktbahni. It is said no foreign forces could ever conquer Afghanis. Reason only was no body then betrayed Afghans from within. Saddam gave rough resistance which attacking forces themselves termed as to prolong the war, fell of a sudden – due to to Jaffar. There had always been some Jaffars in Muslim. Ordinary Muslim or ordinary believer of third world country only for this reason take Saddam as Hero otherwise due to none other thank. These ordinary people have a wish in their heart their own rulers sometime show a little courage or self dignity.
