Why on earth, Pakistani Chartered Accountants never think to conduct any research of their own instead of doing "Makkhi-Pe-Makkhi-Maro"? Pakistani Scientists, Economists, Doctors & Engineers have done much on International level but I never heard of any Pakistani Chartered Accountant achieved any International landmark. Sadly, they haven't been able to design a comprehensive "Tax Return Form" that may not need changes every year!!! Shouldn't ICAP pay a little attention towards this matter? Shouldn't beyond a specific period of practice, CPE credit be only on the basis of Research work? Can't ICAP start any programme to persuade research in the field? How long should it remain like this? You must have heard that "Why the Auditor crossed the road?... Because last year it was done so, and it was written in the file." So, should we keep on crossing the road... forever??

I agree, perhaps, we, the Pakistani Accountants are the perfect "Balls"..... You roll them towards the direction you deem fit..... or scratch them the way you want... No eyes, No ears, No nose, No mouth, No hair (and in most of the cases.. No Face)..... No damn Nothing..... Perhaps, it was the only Prof. Dr. Khwaja Amjad Saeed, who started to do something... and the rest?????? Look at them!!!... Blind,Deaf, Dumb and Faceless "Balls"?????

Research.. a dirty word indeed!

The general thinking among us goes something like this "Why should we waste time and effort on something when there are so many goras doing all the hard work for us??!!".

Bas paisa banaao aur ghar jao... thats our motto. Who gives a damn about this thing called research.

On a serious and sad note, the reason nobody is interested in research in this subject is because nearly all of us come in this profession to make big bucks, rather than for the love of the subject. In science, it is mostly the other way around.

And why should ICAP pay attention to these things since it also is guilty of running a 'chappa khana' in its basement! The text books and syllabi of ICAP and ICMAP are virtual copies of other international qualifications like ACCA, CIMA etc.

yar u all r very much aggrieved, but u r also right,
magar I fully support the decision of withdrawing exemptions for ACCA, as it was becoming a short cut to bcome ACA, hai na,
any way all of us have different opinions which are based upon different experience v had.

Yes Mr.Asif, I share your joy for withdrawal of exemption to ACCA. In fact all exemptions should be withdrawn. But we all must also share the shame which is there. I myself had attempted questions in CA intermediate which were taken from England final CA papers. Our big shots are still unable to form questions, let alone the study material.
There are various kinds of braveries...one being "the bravery of being out of range"!!!. Ok!! we may be glad upon withdrawal of all exemptions being out of range of their "withdrawal" actions....but what would happen if they start imposing copyright laws upon their all materials including questions papers? It's not only the matter of our own professional field... you can see all around happening this. Stoppage of thinking is always beginning of nations' end.... so far as "our" grief is concerned... don't worry... you just be happy!!!
