ACCA Or ICMA ????? - shezo - 07-13-2009 hey guys, im a CA victim, now i wana switch towards ACCA or ICMA, so plz help me in selecting one of them, im very confused. Tell me each & everything abt ACCA & ICMA. - amahmood_satti - 07-13-2009 --ACMA-- If u can put an extra effort and have decided to work in pakistan then go for ACMA. Specially government sector is giving great weightage to ICMAP. And I have personally experienced the importance given to ACMAs in public sector. As I am working in a strategic government organization I have seen ICMA Inters to be taken in SPS-8(Equivalent to BPS-17) with starting salary of Rs. 28000. (approximately) and qualified ACMAs with only 3 years of membership experience in SPS-9(Equivalent to BPS-18) with a salary of Rs. 42000 (approximately). In addition, the cost of ACMA studies born by qualified ACMAs is reimbersed by the government and special qualification allowance is also given to qualified ACMA. So its a good stuff for ACMAs and they should be thankful to AGP. --ACCA-- If u can put some extra resources(and obviously effort) and willing work abroad then go for ACCA. However pakistan market and government sector is still immature for ACCA. I dont say that after ACCA you will be unemployed in pakistan but you wouldn't get the benefits you deserve after ACCA but still exceptions are there. But now a days ACCA is making its place in pakistan. Both of the two qualification are manageble to pass with working and studying part time but ACCA is comparatively offers more flexibility. You may choose any one qualification which best suits to your plans. you may visit the following websites for further details. www.accaglobal.com www.icmap.com.pk Regards, - awaisaftab - 07-13-2009 Dear Shezo, ACCA is considered 3rd priority of a employer who want to appoint a professional accountant. But if you have wasted more time in CA then I will suggest that do ACCA because ICMA is very time consuming exercise. Regards, Awais - amahmood_satti - 07-13-2009 Dear Awais, Would you like to comment who are the 1st priority? What I understand is, it is some personal qualities and nature & scope of experience that decides, who is going to be 1st, 2nd or 3rd priority of an employer. Regards, - shezo - 07-13-2009 Thx Mr. Mehmood - Toronto_Boy - 07-13-2009 Dear Mr. Satti It seems like you got the germs of "debate" too.[D] Nice to see you here...[)] Regards - amahmood_satti - 07-14-2009 Dear Toronto_Boy, Nice to see you here too...you are seen very off and on now in this forum. "Germs" yeah!! But I must say these germs should never be misused. Regards, <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> In my opinion first and second priority of most of Pakistani employers is ICMA and CA. Its only my opinion. How an employer can give priority to a person who has not studied corporate and tax law of Pakistan. Although ACCA students have both option whether to read Pakistani laws or British Laws but unfortunately more than 90% students study british law which is useless in Pakistan. I dont want to start any new debate. The debate that you want to initiate is alredy going on at many threads. These types of debate only create hatred among members. Only iformative and healthy discusssion should be initiated at different forums. My point was that, any person with a combination of good personal qualities and most relevant practical experience can be the 1st priority of an employer whether he is ACMA, CA or ACCA. Tax and Law which you are talking about, are practical subjects and can be better understood by a person who is practising the same rather only passing an exam. The people who are practising these subjects are better equiped even though they haven't passed any professional exam of these subjects. Passing an exam only does not guarantee that one has mastered that subject unless it is followed by practical work. I have elaborated my point & hope no one should feel an offence to start a new debate now. Regards, - rabia-k - 07-14-2009 ACCA has a paper on pakistani tax , but in the fundamental level. - tariqsohail - 07-14-2009 Rabia, Please can you provide information on the scope of CMA (Certified Management Accountant) in UAE job market. - Toronto_Boy - 07-15-2009 Dear Tariq To develop your own judgement, and to have independent and unbiased views about the scope of any qualification, it is suggested to visit job websites in target country/market to see demand. If a person think that a holder of specific qualification deserves for executive level job and other qualification holder does not deserve for this level of job then he has to visit job market and should see job ads and job announcments. Regards, Awais Aftab - tariqsohail - 07-15-2009 Gents, Agreed... but there are so many designations around the world that sometimes employer also confused not aware of their exact requirement and they mention all designations on Job profile so its always good to get first hand information from someone who is living in that job market.
