Dear Nasir,

In Pakistan, ICAP has a very tight monopoly over the accountancy job market. The reasons for this are numerous. The recruiters (the people who hire other people on jobs) are either CA's (ICAP) themselves or prefer CA's. As a result, CA's are paid far better than ACCA's. This is also because ACCA affliates dont have the neccesary training credentials. In every field, having practical experience matters a lot. An employer would pay a MBA with 4 yrs experience, far more than he would pay a fresh graduate. So the employers naturally prefer CA's who have 4 yrs of practical training expreience, to ACCA's who dont.

I think, If you want to reach the top in Pakistan, it will be best for you to do CA after ACCA. If you posses the neccesary capabilities than why not go for it? Even if you want to become an ACCA member you need training experience. SO why not get enrolled as an ICAP traineee & fulfil both ACCA & ICAP training requirements in the same time ?

dear Avgjoe
thanx for ur reply
ya actually i wanna do CA but u know CA is not easy i mean it takes time and i m already 22 years so if i m stepping in CA so it would take me to 30 years or may be above and till then, u know that i will be not with a degree ...but in this way ...if i do ACCA then i will be with a degree and may be possible i get a better job after doing it and if not then i will do as u advised me ,this was also in my mind that to complete the membership of ACCA i have to do 3 years articles from chartered firm so it will be better for me if i join any firm being a member of ICAP and also try to take exams of module E & F in this way i will be a member as well.
thanx a lot
regards
