AOA everyone,
I am the new member Mariam Abidi.Can anyone tell me how to register for Actuarial Sciences and who is the representative of Institute Of Actuaries(UK)in Pakistan?Which institution holds actuarial exams in Karachi.

Please i'll be very thankful, for even to a little help.If anyone can kindly guide me.Thanks

i would recommend that you do a search on this forum (by clicking on the Search link on the top-right of the page) with the keywords "actuary" and "actuarial science". You will find several topics on this subject which have been discussed in detail.

Salam aquafahad,
i have also gone through the site of SoA.i think u should go for actuary (its not necessary)because there r a number of advantages and nowadays u should study something of great worth.something that can lead you to achieve everything for your better future.i like actuarial sciences because it includes mathematics and i like maths (is mein mera dimagh thora sa chalta hai) jo kuch mein nay actuarial sciences kay baray mein barha hai us say yeh pata chalta hai kay yeh field acchi hai.i think it's fun to design policies and all that stuff.aur is kay allawa jo mein nay parha tha us say yeh andaaza lagaya hai kay yeh aik aisa subject hai jissay parh kar you are of great worth in the business world because it covers all the things related to finance,accounts,stats,ecomonics etc and these things are the basis of business.
yeh sara mera idea hai aur shayad mein aap ko theek terha say explain nahi ker pa rahi houn laikin meray dimagh mein jo picture hai woh bohat hi neat and clean hai and i'll be very happy if i can join this.do reply me i'll wait for your reply.ho sakta hai mein apna idea change ker loun.byt hte way y do u think u should go for CA?do tell me.

One of the reason why somebody may choose CA instead of Actuarial Profession would be that Actuarial Profession is very focused in the nature that had somebody wanted to change their career in later year, it may be somewhat quite difficult to get success. Whereas, I think CA would be much better if someone wants his/her options open.

Agree with the derivative trader, since CA is a very general qualification, people further specialise in internal audit, IT audits, investments, taxation etc. A lot depends on what kind of opportunities one has.

I have come across people who went in for their CFA after having been an actuary for n number of years.

If you are good at math/statistics and think you will enjoy the vocation go ahead. It is important to enjoy what you are going for, since that is pretty much what you will be doing for the rest of your life !
