All depends upon what you think interests you and will suit you, you don't want to end up choosing something that you won't like (and end up doing that for the rest of your life !). I have two brothers and both are in IT one is a hard core programmer turned software engineer, the other is a programmer-web designer student. Incidently the one who is into full time job earns as much as a CA does (with comparable work experience). So lot depends on what you like. I couldn't convince both of them to join the family profession (... If you ask me I'll have a bias towards my own profession and will advice you to join the profession be a chartered accountant...

Look at both the professionals around you,.. their lifestyles.. and try imagining yourself in their shoes...

Goodluck and do keep the forum posted of your decision.

salaam all,

dear mr. musafir, dont run 'after' the scope. your scope lies where ur 'interest' lies. selection of qualification is always a secondary issue. the primary n most important thing is wht u want to do? where u wanna b? wht u want to achieve? then comes the qualification. if the field of computer engg. really appeals u, it is the best choice, regardless of the prevalent qualifications. but if computer engg. is not enticing enough for u, thn it might b ur worst mistake!!!
so my advice is to think urself, try to realize ur area of interest, just explore urself, dont run after scope. the scope shall run after u provided tht u picked the 'right' qualification for u.
i know many qualified doctors n engineers who have switched their profession just bcoz it was not there cup of tea exactly!!!!!

Thanx all of you for replying to my message.. i tought a lot about my field and interest and have decided to join CAT so as to get into ACCA <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>.
Now there's one more thingy i would want advice at ..
> what is better to complete CAT and enter ACCA form second level or to do CAT upto 5 papers and then join ACCA from beginning...
I asked this b'coz out of 9 papers in CAT course.. the last four would be advanced and i think that the first three papers would be easier.. i dunno much about the course...But my basic aim is doin ACCA..

Dear Musafir

It is good decision for ACCA that u ve started. Ur background is FSC-Pre-eng thats y u have to work hard initially .Once u understand the basic concepts of accounting/commerce/business that u automatically move ahead in a particular subject...Belive me ACCA is more easy & better then CA of Pakistan & India ..if u want to earn more in blue chips company of Pakistan or in UAE etc..I will suggest u to continue ur ACCA & dont go for ICMAP,ICAP due to local, uncertain & time consuming qualifications..........Once u clear ur ACCA u will have chrm for more globally accepted certifications.......U r too young i think hardly 18 and 19 years ...loosing first attemppt in ACCA does not matter....do work hard go any reputed business school for tuition...then appear again in ACCA............Best of luck
