This is important to note that CIAs "CANNOT" sign external audit reports like CA's if they are not Chartered Accountants. CIA does not entitle you to do "External Audit" independently. So be sure that members of ICAP can do and sign external audit.

Dear Noman Waris,

If you have completed CA then you may get exemption from CIA part {IV)

Hi All

These are relatively new certifications,..and have recently started to gain recognition around the globe.

Plenty of information is available in this respect on www.theiia.org

In pakistan the internal audit department of Hubco serves as a chapter for IIA. SHould anyone interested to apply or need more information, they can contact the local chapter.

Please note that these certifications are ADD ons and should not be your primary qualification. No doubt they will be enough for u to work as an internal auditor in any good organisation but please never under estimate ur selves and always aim for higher goals,..

regards

There are three chapters of the Institue of Internal Auditors in Pakistan, Lahore (as known as Pakistan Chapter), Karachi Chapter and Islamabad Chapter. Institute is planning to have another chapter in Multan. Karachi Chapter's president is Hubco's head of Internal Audit Ms Huma Pasha (FCA).

Would a person having more than 3 years internal audit experience and a CA Foundation (and not having a graduation degree) be able to register for the CIA exams?

- Pracs - 10-17-2006

Retro,

I suggest you contact the local chapters of IIA, there is one in Lahore and Karachi. They can advise you at best how to go about it. Not having the graduation degree could be a bottle neck but there is no harm in trying.

- ina - 10-17-2006

CA foundation is Ok to getting registered for Certified Internal Auditor examination. You can contact local office(s) near you to confirm it. You have reasonable time to resolve this matter with IIA Inc. if there is any bottleneck due to not having graduation, for May 2007 exam session.
