Comparatives on Half Year Ended Accounts - geo - 07-05-2003

Would somebody explain why a lot of companies are giving the second quarter ended results in the Profit & Loss of half year ended accounts?
Isn't it against IAS-34 (appendix-I)?
Is there any SRO requiring to do so?
Is this presentation in accordance with IAS-34?

Asalam o alaikum
well actually you got it yourself in your question. The word used is '2nd quarter' results, so probably that is why the 2nd quarter results are also shown in addition to the '1st half
2 - IAS 34 (some portion of it) is overriden by our companies ord. '84 requirements, so even if its a violation, its okay.
The reason I used 'even' is because reasonable additional information that helps users in ------' is allowed by the IAS.

I dont know about any SRO or something requiring this thing, excpet like I said earlier the word used is '2nd qtr.'
thanks

Yar Geo!

Most of the companies are giving them coz AFF or THK may have given so. Its really the inherent limitation of many firms to copy the above mentioned.

I'm back , well it is required by the IAS-34. for profit and loss accounts it says something of the sort that 'results for the interim period i.e the 2nd qtr. and the fin. year to date i.e the 6 months should be shown (same is the case for 9 months accounts) and their comparatives should be shown'.

guess its never late enough
