Ishfaq Ahmed, FCA - Muhammad Adnan Arshad - 12-04-2004

For Remembering Ishfaq Sahib on his 8th Death Anniversary
A Biographical Sketch / A Brief Introduction

Ishfaq Ahmed (the founder of PAC) was born in 1954. He qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1983 and was admitted as a Fellow Member of ICAP in 1993. He did his B.Com. from Hailey College of Commerce and joined A. F. Ferguson & Co. Chartered Accountant, Lahore as an Audit Clerk and completed four years of training from the same.

As a qualified Chartered Accountant, he worked as Audit Manager with Zahid Amin Wiqar Chartered Accountant, as Manager Finance with Pak Live Stock & Dairy Farm Limited and as an Incharge of Studies, ICAP, for the Northern Region.
He had been involved in education since 1983, and established his own Academy of Professional Accountants (APA) in 1987. Two years later, he began teaching on full-time basis, thus becoming the premier Chartered Accountant initiating the private education of Chartered Accountant in Pakistan. Late Ishfaq Ahmed's start in the field of education was though humble but was on very solid footings of true professionalism and service orientation.

He later on founded PAC, CIMS and TPC with his other colleagues.Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed (Late) FCA, was a thorough Muslim who followed the tenets of Islam in his daily life in their letter and spirit. After his death, his wife Mrs. Nighat Ishfaq (M.Pharm) continued his mission with the current Principal of PAC "Mr.Jafar Husain, FCA".

He always believed in institution-building and as founder of Professionals' Academy of Commerce (PAC), he always strived for that objective. It is mainly due to his untiring efforts that professional accountants are now adopting education as a career.

He had great love and affection for his students and vice versa. He always thought about them and worked for their betterment, in their greater interest. He made history by filing a writ petition in the Lahore High Court against the compulsory buying of study packs, which ultimately resulted in the withdrawal of that condition by ICAP. He always made representations to the ICAP on the matters adversely affecting the profession and its students. He was also instrumental in filing of writ petition against the limitation of number of attempts.

Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed was the author of many books covering a wide range of professional subjects in accountancy,e.g; Financial Accounting, Auditing, Cost Accounting.

Sohana,

Please refrain from positing irresponsible ''remarks'' especially on a great teacher and CA like Ashfaque sahab. I am sure you do not have an ''ilk'' of an idea of who he was. Had you met him even once, or sat in his class you would have not been so stupid in your post.

We all remember and cherish Ashfaque sahab and pray that he receive a place in ''JANNAT AL FIRDOUS''. May Allah give us the wisdom and the moral strength which Ashfaque sahab possessed.

I will always remember my first meeting with him... I will also never forget his JANAZA.. it is one of the biggest that I have ever attended.

"Allah does not change the state of people unless they change what is within themselves" Quran 1311

It's interesting, that Ashfaq saheb has so much respect, though he is not among us, may be more because of his image as a very good muslim rather than his academic services. But it's a fact even those people respect respect his personality who never met him; only heard from seniors.

I have been a big admirer of him even though i didnt have a chance to meet him. Even then he helped me a lot through the study material that he provided to CA students in shape of solved question papers etc. I wish PAC to meet the standards set by Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed. God bless him.
