DEAR LOVING MEMBERS
After a very long time discussion on the thread CIA,CCSA,CGAP etc(by FAk)& Information System Audit(by Usman zubair)of both wel known and prestigious qualification. Such a useful information has been provided by professionals regarding CISA & CIA. I have gone through almost all of the pages of both TOPICS. But i have some quiries abt both qualification. I am interested to join CIA and want to give some paperz in this year but some of my colleagues said to me that you should do CISA instead of CIA.. is it possible ..??? i have no prior year experience.. how can i appear CISA exam..???? & plzz tel me dear the fee structure of both certification courses in brief. & also the recommended book of both courses ( just one who may cover whole of the scanerio CIA or CISA). About CIA i wanna know something more like
1 Some one said to me that If u are full time student then CIA's registration fees ( may be examination fee also) will be reduced to an acceptable level.
2 I also heard to my colleagues that if u are full time tacher of any professional institutes then u have no need to pay subscription fees, may be exam fee also .
3 Which one would be the most profitable option (either CIA or CISA)
I am interested to do CIA (or may be CISA if i am able to give). I am waiting ur response specialy GUYBRUSH,EHRAR_ACMA,INA. I know Guybrush u r CISA qualified & also EHRAR & INA (CIA qualified).please dear tell me in brief. Done hesitate to write again, i would be very thank ful to u.

I believe that you're doing CA or ACCA, right?
One can claim exemption of Part-IV of CIA if they have qualified either CA, ACCA, CISA or CMA. I'd recommend that you go for CIA only if you have qualified anyone of the above.
As regards the value, Qualified accountants who have also done CISA are getting preferential treatment these days when jobhunting because of CISA's relevance to IS security and Audit. As always, financial institutions are at the forefront of hiring CISA qualified accountants. Currently CIA is a bit more recognisable and may have more utility in Pakistan since many more companys have internal audit deptts than IS security or Risk management deppts.
You yourself will have to decide which line you would like to take in the future, ie Internal Audit or IS security/Audit and then base your exam decision on that, not on which qualification is more valuable, since all of them are.

No dear, Now ACCA part three student. So you mean to say we should qualify ACCA firstly...?? for claiming more exemptions in CIA ..??

Its for you to decide. If you feel ready enough to attempt an extra paper, sure go ahead. Why not go for CISA first, and if you qualify, then do CIA? Part-IV exemption can also be claimed on the basis of CISA.

U know what, Guybrush, some of my colleagues said to me that if a person is ACCA qualified then who are exempted paper 1 of CIA, but if a person is CAT qualified who are also exempted papr 1 of CIA,what a charm equality in both qualification<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>No discrimination. Is it right..??
Now my decision is that i should study thoroughly the whole recommended book of CIA & be gathered to be a complete knowledge about CIA course material. So plz dear tel me one recommended book which is relevent to the CIA exam if u know!I want to,atmost,go through the whole book before qualifying ACCA.

If I am not mistaken, the only exemption IIA (CIA's governing body) allows is in Part-IV and that is also available to ACCA qualifieds. I do not know about CAT, you will have to confirm it directly from the IIA. Their email address to get such information is certification@theiia.org
And whatever you learn from them, dont forget to share it with us here on the forum. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
In my opinion, if you have studied your ACCA/CA study texts well enough plus also have gone through the CIA review manuals and practiced their mock tests, it should be enough. Remember that CIA books are REVIEW manuals only and are not text books.
