CIPFA or Chartered Institute of Public and Finance Accountants is a UK Accountancy Body, and the most expensive qualification amongst other accountancy qualifications (ACCA, ACA,ICMA, CIMA)

CIPFA is beneficial if you are working in the public sector areas covered are Financial Reporting for Central and Local Government and the NHS. I believe the other papers i.e. Leadership and Management, Audit, Information Technology Management, Tax etc are similar to the other bodies. There are 2 other specialised papers Public Policy and Public Finance which need to be completed in CIPFA.

Different people lead different lives, and face different demands on their time. So, when it comes to studying for a professional qualification, it is recognised that flexibility is the key. That's why CIPFA offers a choice of study methods, Open Learning or attendance at your local college.

You can also choose how you proceed through the qualification because the course is fully modular. You decide how many papers you take at a time and which order your prefer. CIPFA can provide advice on a recommended route but choice is yours. The CIPFA syllabus overview gives details.
