ICMAP controversy against ACCA - Mr. Whappaaaa - 07-11-2005
I C M A P ....is one of the renowned professional accountancy bodies in Pakistan, but its outrageous policies & unfair criteria against ACCA is still a big Question Mark. If we analyse the Exemption Policy of ICMAP, then, we see that it has given exemption to MBA & M. COM to be the maximum of 10 papers, but for ACCA exemption is just on 6 papers has been authorized ( Inspite of knowing that ACCA is a professional accountany body & MBA & M COM etc. is an Academic qualification). On the other hand, B-com has also got exempted on three papers, then whats the difference b/w B-com & ACCA ( it doesnt make a sense ! ) .... Why ICMAP is not granting Paper to paper Exemption policy against ACCA ? Or is ICMAP is degrading to ACCAs ..?
If we see the Corporote Job section (Advertised Jobs) of ICMAP ... they are promoting itself that jobs opened to CMAs, say, more than 80% ....jobs not opened to CMAs, say, less than 20% ..... but if you see the previous PDF job post section, atleast, 7 to 8 months .... then ACCA is also appearing on that sheet... & situation is different ... as follows
Jobs opened to CMAs, more than 70 to 80 percent
jobs not opened to CMAs, less than 10 to 15 percent
Jobs opened to CAs, more than 90 percent ( according to my perspective, this analysis is morally right & match with the market situation)
& Now Jobs opened to ACCAs, less than 3 percent. ( Whats this ! ERROR [)])
Is ICMAP realy degrading to ACCAs here in Pakistan ?

Yeah, I do see this as highly discriminatory. Some people will argue that its more on reciprocal basis, but then again ICMAP give a blanket exemption to CIMA ? how do they logicalise that ??
