<b>Decisions taken by the Council in the Last Meeting (29/30 July 2005) </b>

The Council of ICAP at its meeting on 29/30 July 2005 has approved the following changes in different policies of Education and Training with immediate effect

Policy on Compulsorily Study of Modules A and B From Same RAET

Transfer conditions from one RAET to another RAET after passing both Modules A and B have been abolished. Students studying in RAETs are allowed to transfer from one RAET to another after completion of any Module(s) from A to D without obtaining NOC from RAET. Amended transfer policy is being forwarded to Principals of all RAETs.

Exemption Scheme under para 13.2 of Syllabus booklet

Council of ICAP has withdrawn the conditions imposed in para 13.2 of Syllabus Booklet. According to the new change any student / candidate who has appeared in an ICAP examination or any paper (s) thereof, shall be exempt from that examination or any paper(s) thereof if the student / candidate subsequently passes examinations of another accountancy body / University whose qualifications are exempted from such ICAP examination(s) / paper(s).

Eligibility to appear in Module E for Direct / Post Graduate Trainee Schemes

Students transferring from any scheme to Direct / Post Graduate Trainee Scheme and thereafter pass Module D examination during the training shall be eligible to appear in Module E examination after 18 months of date of passing Module D examination or may opt for the present scheme whichever is earlier. These students may sit in Module F examination in last 12 months of their training. All remaining conditions will continue to apply.

Reduction in Training Period

Further to reduction in Training period from 5 years to 4 years for graduates with 4 year degree programme from recognized universities of Pakistan, the same reduction in training period has been extended to students with three years foreign graduation degree course, if those universities/colleges are recognized by the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of their respective countries.


New Exemptions

1. HSC (Intermediate)

a. Exemptions from Classes of Module A
Candidates, who obtain minimum 70% marks in aggregate with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant paper(s) of Module A in which he / she has appeared, will be exempt from attending classes of Module A

b. Exemption from specific papers
Candidates who obtain minimum 75% marks in relevant subjects of Module A paper(s) will be eligible to obtain exemption in such paper(s). Provided that the course contents of such paper(s) of HSC (Intermediate) include at least 70% of course contents of subject(s) of Module A of ICAP. Condition in (a) above will also apply.

2. ‘A’ Levels

a. Exemptions from Classes of Module A
Candidates who obtain minimum two B’s on an overall basis with a minimum of two C’s in Module A’s relevant subjects in which he / she has appeared, will be exempt from attending classes of Module A.

b. Exemption from specific papers
Candidates, who obtain minimum ‘B’ Grade in relevant subjects, will be eligible to obtain exemption in such papers. If the contents of the specific subject from which exemption is to be granted, include at least 70% of ICAP’s course content of the respective paper.
3. Graduates / Masters
(Graduates means any Graduates with a four year’s degree course, or a foreign graduation degree holder with three years graduation course from Universities / Colleges recognized by their respective Institutes of Chartered Accountants.)

a. Exemptions from Classes of Module A to B
Such Graduates / Master’s degree holders opting to join through MFC Scheme will be exempt from attending classes of Module A and B. They may also opt to join training directly for a period of four years.

b. Exemption from specific papers
Candidates with minimum of 70% marks in relevant papers will be granted exemption for that specific paper(s). If the contents of the specific subject from which exemption is to be granted, include at least 70% of ICAP’s course content of the respective paper.

c. Previously the credits of relevant paper of Modules A & B were only available to Masters degree holders who join through Post Graduate Trainee Scheme. Now the Council of ICAP grant exemptions from Module A or B papers to Master Degree holders on case to case basis joining through any scheme i.e Private Graduate Scheme, Direct Graduate Scheme or Post Graduate Scheme.
