Dear All,
GIFT University (GIFT), Pakistan is a seat of higher learning and research. It is situated in the industrial hub of city of Gujranwala and is around 65 kilometers from Lahore. GIFT is a chartered Uiversity and is also recognized by Higher Education Commission, Govt. of Pakistan. It employs around 350 people in various academic and business roles.
School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) is an emerging specialty of GIFT. It offers Bachelor (4 years) and Master (2 years) programs in Accounting and Finance and supports other schools in their accounting, finance and legal courses as well. It has employed a team of qualified and learned full-time faculty member and visiting lecturers. It has strong liaison with stock exchanges, banks, major financial and non-financial institutions and industry.
Pakistan has 3 stock exchanges and 1 future commodity exchange. It has its own accounting and auditing standard setting body. It has around 256 banking and non-banking financial institutions and this figure is expected to increase to 145% by 2006. However, Pakistan faces a dearth of trained people in area of accounting and finance. In order to meet this net deficit, GIFT intends to expand its School of Accounting and Finance.
