NEED ADVISE - Iqbal qureshi - 09-11-2003

Salaam to all u guys.
Actually i just know about this site and i am really pleased to know that such a platform is available here for accountancy students in Pakistan.I just have done my F.Sc. and i am really confused what to do next in future. But some things are for sure that i wanna do something in accountancy and second that i belong to a lower middle class and being the only son i have a lot of responsibilities so i know that i have to earn for my family from lets say 4 years from now .So i just want the advise what should i do . i know i cant do ca complete as it would take 8 years or so. so my question is that should i look for some loan and do acca or should i do ca -inter. what would help my getting a better job in pakistan.what will be the pay scale in both cases i mean after ca-inter and after acca.plz be practical and sincere when advising as it can be my whole life decision.Really curious to know about the opportunities available after doing ca-inter and its pay scale.and the most important thing is that what would be ca-inter oppurtunities after 3 years or so as it would take 2-4 years.so mind it that i will be ca-inter or acca after3-4 years.Really need someones advise.plz reply to this forum.anxiously waiting.thanx to u all.Allah blees u all.

Dear Iqbal Qureshi,
If u r comparing CA and ACCA, as far as pakistan is concerned, CA is more valuable than ACCA, a qualified CA gets around 30 to 40 K Rs. starting, but unfortunately if u r unable to qualify CA, suppose u r CA Inter or Mod. E cleared, then u will get at least 15,000 starting (CA inter + Articles completed), in my opinion CA can be the cheapest degree provided u r brilliant enough to pass the exams based on self study, but dont consider the ACCA as simple, ACCA is also difficult like CA, but in ACCA u r well aware about the syllabus, but in CA u see always a new type of questions in the examinations, there are people who qualify the papers of CA in 1st go (at least up to CA inter), so if u want to do something in accounts, and want to earn more in future i ll advice you to do CA, as u belong to lower middle class family, it would be expensive for you to do CA inter as FTFC student(Full time Foundation Course)through RAET's, but u can enter into the CA field as PFC (Prospective Foundation Candidate) in which taking the classes are not mandatory, after passing ur Module D, u will be able to get Articleship with any CA firm, there u will get the stipend through which u will be able to manage atleast your personal expenses.
take care,

Respected Mr.SM Raza,
Salaam.Sorry if u mind the posting of my messages two times but i just happened.I didnt do it intensionally but i will be further care ful in the future. And as far as the posting a new message is concerned, i will not take care of it too thats y i am replying to my previous Topic "NEED ADVICE".Now i hope i am not bothering u by asking so much questions. I will be really greteful if u can post my the stipend list on my email address. My email address is [email protected]. As far as my first question is concerned i just want to ask that in pakistan who has more opportunities a CA-inter qualified person or an ACCA qualified person.I know that CA-complete is much more valuable in pakistan than Acca.I want to compare CA-inter and Acca. Thirdly plz reply to my second question in which i have asked u about the opportunities available to a freshly new CA-inter qualified person without completing the article ship. What could be his pay scale.Thanx a lot for ur help.Take care.

hi there
well u see ca and acca are both equally challenging and in demand abroad.. yes of course chartered accountants are considered the guru's of accounting and thats only due to their 4-5 year ragra, articles. if u arent interested or able to do articles then theres no point of doing ca-inter. i mean the max u will get is a starting pay of about 7000 to 10000, depending on ur luck..
with acca u dont need to do articles but u are still required to do the 3 year training.. which canbe done before after or during the studies.. this can enable you to either become a champion in one aspect or do bits and pieces .. as a qualified acca u can get a starting from 15000, depending on your previous academic record, connections and most importantly luck.
another option which i might add i think would be much better for someone like you is to do ACMA from Institute of cost and management accountants of pakistan .. this is ideal for u since it is a pakistani qualification recognised everywhere locally as well as some places internationally... with acma u dont need to do articles just like acca and it being a pakistani qualification is cheaper as well..
see the basic reason why ca's are paid more then an acca, cpa or cima is that as a ca u are doing pakistan tax and pakistan law variants and are more aware of the requirements whereas with all the above mentioned qualifications u do these of the country these originate from .. so if u wanna work in pakistan, in my opinion the best option for u would be to go for graduation first and then do acma.. and inshALLAH once qualified and in job u can always do acca then if u want to .. but in my opinion acma from icmap is the ideal thing for u .. u can find more info in acma from www.icmap.edu.pk

best of luck and if possible remember me when praying ... pray for my exam and career success as well .. thankx brother))))

Agreed with Omar,
if u dont want to do articleship then dont do CA inter, but Omar I dont think that ACMA is cheaper, anyways i agree with you,
Being CA student i admit this that ACMA students may have more knowledge (Bookish) than CA students, but they loose their market just bcaz of articleship. Otherwise ACMA may worth more than CA.
Iqbal I'll mail you stipend list as soon as possible.
