ACCAs in Pakistan - hanifasif - 12-26-2005

Dear friends,

What is the current market position of ACCA members in Pakistan? Salary Levels, sectors which are open etc. Comments are solicited from those who have qualified and are currently working, especially in industry. Why? Because I am seriously thinking about coming back to Pakistan for good. I am currently working as Account Supervisor in a petrochemical company in Saudi Arabia and getting good salary with plenty of opportunities for career advancement.

I don’t want to make a bad decision and I hope your suggestions will be a great help in making the right decision.

Regards,

Asif

Hi Hanif, I am an ACCA but also a CA,. and have never worked in Pakistan apart from my articles. However I know a couple of people who qualified as ACCAs (with Big 4 articles) and went into the industry (Banks and MNCs) at a start of PKR 30,000 and above.

I am not sure what your role profile exactly is, and which city you plan to move back to. There are some good opportunities in the Oil and gas sector especially in Karachi and Islamabad.

A suggestion with regards to moving back, when you plan to do try scanning the market when you are over on vaccations. It will help more if you try through some consultants based in the Middle east that will usually get you a good deal. Remember it always makes sense to get a job and then move from a presnent one. You know continuous employment..
