Articleship in UK after passing CA Intermediate - hariskz - 03-29-2006

Assalam alaikum,

What is the procedure a CA Intermediate from ICAP will have to go through in order to do articles in UK and obtain ICAEW degree? Will ICAEW recognize CA Intermediate qualification from ICAP?

I hope some of the senior members can answer my question.

Thanks.

Walaikum assalaam

The procedure is fairly simple, it is the training contract which is difficult to get.

The procedure is, you apply to get a training contract from ICAEW approved training practices (database can be obtained on request from ICAEW). The training practice (CA firm) will go through your application (CV) and if they consider you are the right candidate they will then apply for your TWES visa (Training and Work Experience).

As I said above the problem lies in obtaining the training contract so whether a person is CA intermediate or fully qualified unless he/she gets the training contract it is not possible for him/her to do CA-ICAEW.

I may be wrong as my understanding is purely based on my experience. Please refer to ICAEW website www.icaew.co.uk for details.

Kind regards

Azeem

You have to apply to ICAEW authorised training firms to get training contract. ICAEW Careers Section gives very complete info about everything you may want to know.

It seems that you are eligible to apply for training contract. As ICAEW asks for minimum ACCA foundation/A levels equivalent. CA inter is a little more than equal to ACCA foundation (according to ACCA exemptions).
