Dear Sarfraz,
I can understand the problems faced by the CA students during articleship, thatswhy whoever wants to get into this field, i always tell hims the pros and cons of this field, can u imagine i am going to office at 10AM and coming back at 2 to 3 in night, this is my routine from last month,
My family has already written off me 3 years ago

Hi SMR

were u depreciated or just simply written off by your family in the first year of your articles? If your family wrote you off right in the first year than its ok, but if they showed you in their books for a period longer than one year and used some method of depreciation, then i am sorry my friend, i will have to raise an audit query on this as this is a serious case of accounting mis-estimation, either intentional or unintentional!

As is normal for this industry, a boy/girl who enters articleship ceases to provide any economic benefits to their family and hence they should not in any case be shown in the books and should immediately be written off! If they assume that their boy/girl will start to provide these so-called economic benefits in six or more years time, then its only a contingency and we all know how contingent gains have to be treated according to IAS!! lol

btw... if u are being depreciated by your family, then can u please state the method of depreciation? I dont think that the benchmark treatment could be used over here.

LOL, Guybrush,
at first my family was doubtful about me, so on the basis of that doubt they made a provision, when they finally came to know that i m no longer recoverable, they immediately wrote me off, they called EOGM for approval of said write off, My dad took the chair, and finally with the permission of my mom, following resolution was pased,
"RESOLVED THAT the write off of Mr. SMR is hereby authorized and approved". (Certified true copy)
i think that is the answer of your audit query if it doesnt satisfy you, and you are insisting on qualification, then Board is going to appoint another auditor

Whoops... my mistake sire!

The audit query was raised due to misunderstanding created by a new trainee and an equally inept semi-senior. We will immediately post them to a 'choona' client where they will spend the rest of their articleship.

As for the query, we immediately take it back. Just imgaine that it was never raised.

P.S. Kindly clear our outstanding dues. The audit fees for the year 1998 and onwards stay outstanding on your part. Thank you and best regards.

- Ammar - 10-28-2003

hi may name is ammar i am agree with sarfaraz for late sitting
i have put forward my own theory for late sitting
in fact causes of late sitting

1seniors are appeareated for there late sitting from managers that they are doing good job in fact they are not doing taht

2 some time if clint good atmosphier audit team enjoy vrey much so they should be served with heavy lunch and dinner (as v wish)

3 some time client nature is that type the late sitting is necessary
this is the onley genuin reasons
thats the end from the news room take care

- Sarfaraz - 10-29-2003

I am agree with Ammar
1 for his reasons
2 coz he is my senior on the same job and he is job incharge Wink

Hi guys today i got the schedule of CASA elections, I think the matter of late sittings should be presented from CASA platform, I know this will not going to change the enviroment of big four as it will act as hit of goldsmith but Koshish main kamyabi hai. I am surprised late sitting is done in small firms as well. (can anybody tell me the reason)
anyways, who is going to win the CASA election ????, as I think Pervez Muslim's groups of FRSH.

Hi SMR

I have no idea what CASA does and never even saw it working during my articleship. I think that its just another seat of so-called power for which there are some lousy elections after regular periods and only that is when its name and its candidates are seen and heard. Other than that, all quiet and peaceful!

yes, guybrush, the reason may be that we didnt give CASA the due importance during any kind of difficulty, as,
I know a case (by words of mouth of one of my friends) which was solved by the CASA, and i dont remember exactly, Mr. Arshad or may be Amjad was Gen Secreatary of CASA at that time.
The matter was of a guy of a medium size firm which was vitim of his pagal principal, he contacted CASA and matter was resolved in the manner which was acceptable to both principal and trainee student.
so I think "in tiloo main abhi tail baqi hai"

Hey Mr SMR, could you please provide me following information-

1) What was your useful life?
2) What was your depreciation charge per year?
3) Depreciation charges were either RBM or SLM
