BREAKING NEWS : ICAP's Bad Failure Rule Changed - UzairCh - 09-17-2009 http//www.icap.org.pk/userfiles/file/President_communication_11.pdf The Council has now decided that the students will be eligible to claim permanent credit in any passed paper(s) irrespective of the marks obtained in other papers of the same module. Permanent credit will also be available to a students even if he/she appears in one or more papers but is absent in other papers for any reason. This decision and the decision mentioned in (vii) below, will become effective from date relevant bye-laws are approved, and I expect this to happen in the next few days. LIMIT OF ATTEMPTS AND PERIOD IN QUALIFYING IMPOSED While the Council has allowed permanent credits in the papers passed irrespective of marks obtained in other papers, it has been decided to put some limitation on the number of attempts a student can appear in the exams. The following limitations will apply to number of attempts ⢠Student appearing in Modules A to D will be allowed six attempts for each module. ⢠Students will be required to pass Modules E and F within ten years of their eligibility to appear in Module E. The above limitations will be prospectively applied, that is, from the date of first attempt after application of this rule, and number of attempts or period already lapsed prior to the date of application of rule will not be counted. - Arabian - 09-18-2009 This is the Best News I Ever Heard. - Osama Rules - 09-18-2009 Salam, too good!! [D] hopefully we will keep on hearing such kind of news!! [)] thanks.. - faizee - 09-21-2009 In my oppinion,it is the worst news for all CA's as these polices would decrease the demand of CA's in market. I think now ICAP want to increase its students or we can say its members which effects the demand and supply of CA's.When supply increases, automatically its demand decreases and I think now it is going to be with CA's also like MBA's have.CA should be passed only by prospectus students, not by any Tom Dick and Harry. So,ICAP should review its new polices which are gong to be implemented soon.We as the student of CA should think for our future. Regards, Faizan - kamranACA - 09-21-2009 Faizee Don't lose heart please. You will not see those Tom Dick and Harry getting through. Regards, Kamran. - tariqsohail - 09-21-2009 Faizee, I think ICAP will not increase the supply. ICAP might raise the bar (which is already pretty high) for testing students in the exams, and there will not be any Tom Dick & Harry. Regards, Sohail - Astute Accountant - 09-21-2009 ICAP's new rule sounds good... Hopefully it will prove beneficial to the students. - mojojojo - 09-21-2009 Why r u cuncerned about tom dick and harry. - kamranACA - 09-22-2009 Faizee can answer the query. However, I think Tom, Dick and Harry suit best to their known roles. May this be one of the reasons. Let's count on Faizee's answer. Regards, Kamran. - d.w - 09-22-2009 Dear Mr. Kamran Don't u think that people can and will pass papers slowly over ten years? a person who takes a considerable period in passing will not remember or retain the previous subject he passed years ago. And im sure this will result in Tom dick and harrys becoming CAs, and will result in more CAs in the market causing devaluation. On the other hand, i also think that the market filtes tom dick and harrys itself, and one makes his market himself... Regards Dw - kamranACA - 09-22-2009 DW Please let me know, is the answering of your question necessary for a detailed clarification or we can wait for few years to prove my point? I again mention that no Tom, Dick and Harry will be getting through. One example is of ICAEW's entry to Pak where people were quite over excited. I at the outset explained this is going to create no harm but no one attempted to understand. Now people have started concluding what I told months back. Let me again tell you, no Tom, Dick and Harry is expected to get through. They have their own specific defined roles. Let them justify it. If you wish me to invest larger amount of time for an analysis, let me know. Regards, Kamran. - faizee - 09-22-2009 Dear mojo, I think you should know that "Tom Dick and Harry" is just a phrase which is used for careless and ironic people or for everyone. That is why I was concerned about Tom Dick and Harry and they don't deserve CA qualification I am more concerned about those people who choose CA as there 2nd or 3rd option especially, fresh intermediates whose first aim is to get admission in prestigious engineering university and when they don't get it they came up with CA and when anyone ask them why did you join CA they said "BAS YAR KUCH TO KARNA THA NA" which is the biggest failure for them and this might be the reason for high percentage of failures in ICAP.When they got failed, there duty is just to blame ICAP that they people have so called "KOTA SYSTEM" they pass only limited students which is not pragmatic. To stop this upshot, ICAP should review its entry requirements. At this time minimum requirement is 45% for intermediates with PPT test and 60% without PPT.If I say that I have got 59.9% in intermediate and my friend has got 60% but what is the difference between me and him, but I will considered by ICAP as failure student but not my friend and i have to give ppt but my friend will be exempt with it.It sounds odd, that a world renowned institute has such a low requirements even if we see a private university with no affiliations there minimum requirement is 65%-70% so what is the matter with ICAP.There is no ambiguity that ICAP is doing its best in making CA qualification more competitive but in this regard ICAP is not worth doing. I would appreciate if Kamran ACA comment on this post. Kind Regards, Faizan - kamranACA - 09-22-2009 Dears, Some of Toms have started appearing on this thread as well. It was expected because they are either the failures (as pointed out by Faizee) or had been feeling fear of accepting the challenge. Since there is no purpose to debate with such bugs, let them be ignored. Afterall they have to work under CAs one day. Let's see will they find refuge. Faizee, there is no issue if ICAP raises its entry requirements level. However, I think strict entry requirements are not a practice at other places as well. ICAP does not insist any one to be its student nor it provides any guarantee that every one will get through. Claiming and debating the standards of ICAP is not required regardless of the bugs who are causing this matter simmering over the heat of baseless, self created, red coals of jealousy. Toms have been witnessed spitting out dirt and this is the best proof of the pain of failure they feel inside. Because if it is not true, they need not to post like this. Let me assure you ICAP has world's best procedures, standards and ethical conditions. Let the time come, there will be no Tom, Dick and Harry. ICAEW can never become a threat to this whole region. Remember my words. This, however, is not an adverse comment by any means about ICAEW's quality. Regards, Kamran. - kamranACA - 09-22-2009 My views are not an intention to indulge in a purposeless debate with "affected" people. If there will be some reasonable question, I will reply. Otherwise I intednt to avoid the Toms. Regards, - Osama Rules - 09-23-2009 SALAM, EID MABROOK PEOPLE!!!!!!! OK IF ICAP HAS STANDARDS THEN WHY WOULD THEY BE SIGNING SUCH A MOU?? I MEAN THE TERMS ie THE STUDENTS WOULD HAVE TO GIVE FINAL 3 PAPERS AGAIN OF ICAEW? [V] I THINK UTMOST ICAP STUDENTS SHOULD ONLY SIT FOR CASE STUDY IF THEY R TO BE THE MEMBER OF ICAEW!! AGREE??? REGARDS!!!!! [8D] |
