Strengths and weaknesses of qualifications - Dard - 02-13-2010

As a student looking to start a qualification, everyone wants to know about the goods and bads of an institute/qualification. I would request all the of you(who are students and members of any accountancy qualification) to let others know about the strengths and weaknesses of YOUR OWN institutes only. Kindly don't start a debate on other institutes, only focus on your own institute. It will help many students who want to enter a particular qualification and want to know the pros and cons of it

- Flexibile
- Courses are quite comprehensive and cover all areas
- Curriculum is updated regularly to provide knowledge about latest issues and developments
- Gives the option to switch to university route; agreement with OBU
- MRA with other professional bodies around the globe.
<i>Weaknesses</i>
- Yet to gain acceptance at par with ICAP's CA program
- Lack of strict training requirement in an audit firm

In case you realize that professional qualification alone won't give you much progression in career and you need to have a university degree as well (MBA/MSc etc.) then you can do so by obtaining BSc degree and then proceed to Masters program. If this agreement wasn't there one would not be able to do masters since a very few universities accept professional qualifications for entrance into Masters program.
In the same manner if you realize that you are not going to be an industry guy and want to move towards academia then you can do Masters and then PhD using this OBU degree.
