ACCA or CIMA?! - pauliangenius - 02-13-2010

my accounts sir told me not to go for ACCA as according to their knowledge,it's value is decreasing day by day due to the large inflow of students in it.He said that the big4 were not taking ACCA students in large quantities so we should go for CIMA. is it true?

The fact that there are increasing number of students getting admitted in ACCA is true. The same is true for other qualifications like C.A so you can't pass judgements only on this basis. This can have two consequences
1. There will be more qualified ACCAs in the market(This may not true because not everyone who enters ACCA goes on to qualify it)
2. Gaining popularity among countries and growing
ACCA's worth and reputation is NOT decreasing day-by-day, but increasing worldwide
BIG4 firms are taking ACCA affiliates(who have passed all the exams of ACCA)
Decision of choosing either CIMA or ACCA is solely upto you. Both the qualifications are good in their own aspects. It also depends on your career choice, whether you want to be a management accountant, financial auditor etc etc

i want to become a financial risk manager. is acca going to help me in my path? also i want to know whether when we can go for internshipafter passing FUNDAMENTALS or after passing PROFESSIONAL papers

Yeah, ACCA is going to help you if you want to be a Finance risk manager. You can do internship after fundamentals module. After passing the professional module you will be an ACCA affiliate and can start articleship instead of internship

is cfa better than a financial risk manager

- Dard - 02-14-2010

I see you are very confused about your career. CFA is a field specialising in Investments, including dealing with risk in investments

- Dard - 02-14-2010

Financial risk manager is a job post, not a qualification
