BBA and then CA, or direct? - khand - 03-10-2010
Hey, I am an A level student, and i am very confused as to whether I should do BBA first and then CA, or should I directly start with CA. I am confused because If i am unable to complete/do CA then I would have nothing to fall back on. Plus i am keen on learning new things from BBA but BBA and then CA is Alot of years...
Also i would like to know that if one gets stuck in some CA module, then what options does he have other than giving papers again.
And does CA really mean the end of your social life??

Salam,
If you are in pakistan & looking forward to develop you career within pakistan then no doubt CA(ICAP) is one of the best option you have.
Now as far as choosing suitable route is concerned then according to me you should go for a direct route as in pakistan employer do not place much importance in a degree or let's say they prefer a candidate with a direct route although let me tell you that outside pakistan especially in ME it's a opposite story.
You would & should have studied Accounts at O & A levels & based on that I think you should make your decision ie if you consider yourself to be average or above average student in Accounts then opt for a direct route.[)]

Studying accounts in A levels is not mandatory. And i personally believe PpL who have had no accounting background before C.A easily(comparatively) grip the new concepts they come across in C.A
BBA and then C.A would require almost a decade! I would advise you to go for C.A directly if C.A is your ultimate goal. Provided you study hard and have the spirit, ambition and commitment for C.A, you would pass C.A Insha'Allah
When studying C.A, you would have to compromise most(but not all) of your luxury activities if you are to pass. For example not attending weddings, parties etc when exams are close to near. So yeah, it can be said your social life gets affected, but not totally destroyed. It depends on time management and how effectively you utilise it

Another thing which might not be interest to you, but i would still mention it University life is different from an accounting institute's life. In Accounting institutes/tuition providers, you would see most of the PpL just coming to classes and going back home, with not much of an interaction. You maybe fancied by university life Huge campuses, lotsa students, assignments, presentations etc etc
