Another interesting word and stroy behind it
We also use “8th wonder” in our language. What are the seven wonders?
There are seven wonders of the earth, art works and buildings and architectures built by Greeks and Romans. They are given bellow
1. Temple of artemis
It was a big building (church) used for worshiping. It was built in 356 BC in Asia and was destroyed by Goths in 262 AD.
2. Colossus of Rhodes
Statue of a man, built in 280 BC, 100 ft high, used as an opening gate for Rhodes harbor. Ships used to enter the harbor from in between his two legs.
3. Pharos of Alexandria
A 440 ft tall light house, stood in an island near the harbor of Alexandria
4. Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Built around 600 BC by Nebuchadnezzar II, the Chaldean king for her wife. It was a garden which was grew on the main stairs of royal palace.
5. Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
The mausoleum was a huge marble tomb built for King Mausolus of Caria in Asia. It was built in 353 BC.
6. Statue of Zeus
A 40 ft statue of God Zeus, built in 435 BC, by Greek sculptor Phidias. Gold was also used in it.
7. Pyramids of Egypt
Located in Giza, only one available wonder out of seven on the earth.
