mr. Evolution, CIMA is always helpful for everyone who wants to enhance his/her skills in business-world. it is alwayz a plus no matter wht ur background is. it is not "just" a qualification, it is a complete business education. 45% employers even prefer CIMA over ne other qualification in uk (according to a servey).
i personally know some ppl who r ACA, even FCA!!!, n have done or r doing CIMA. one is doing ACA (in his module E/F) n he has joined CIMA as well.
so it means tht CIMA definetly provides u an edge, wht ever ur academic background is.
