well about books all i can say the teachers are the best advisors of which books one should buy coz different people have different minds and i guess there wont be as much publishing complanies if u start asking this )
anyways i would prefer BPP of ATFL for my accounting studies as I already did )

It looks to me that you are joining PII classes in ICMAP.,
if thats true, then first books to be consult are the core books on the syllabus; which is available on the net on this address

http//icmap.com.pk/syllabus.htm

for advance financial accouting gupta/shukla or which ever suits you best. remember onething the best book for you is the book you can understand., makeup your own choice after a little review yourself.

ali4u3!

well people choose books according to their approach towards studies. The way u study is really important in selecting books.

Anyways!!! if u just need to have concepts then PBP books are good else if u need an indepth understanding, then ofcourse u need some refrence books for core understandings. But being students our basic aim is to pass exam so u first need to understand the requirements of ur syllabus and i guess it would have been better which course r u studying these subjects for......like people are guessing if u r doing ICMA or CA or another accounting qualification.

acha!! for advanced finacial accounting i would suggest "ADVAnCED ACCOUNTINg" by indian author MUKHERJEE. hey i m not talking abt rani mukherjee ( he he). well i found the book really good with lots of questions to practise . i would say the books is self tutoring and pretty easier to understand than SHUKLA/GUPTA. Anyways go to a book shop and have a look for urself and u will findout if it matches ur attitude and way of studying.
i m not sure abt other subjects since this books is good for accounting irrelevant of any particular course.
so mention the exam u r appaering for.

As said by Nadia you should mention the purpose for which you need the books. In short my opinion is that Indian aurthers are the best .eg shukla and gupta for advance accounting and so on.......

well gals and guys...the most imp thing is the level of exam. Mind u.. for advanced parts these shukla's and gupta's are of no use.. they are just for foundation level....for CA the best thing for Acct/rep is IFRS Book ann for practice ..past papers and some ACCA/CA text for support,,,,,,,,,,
