As far as the pass % is concerned, I dont know about ICAP % but ACCA's is normally around 50% in all papers.
Passing CA exams is really very tough. Whereas, passing ACCA exams is not so tough. Thts for sure.
ICAP is only making things difficult for its students. A CA student has to give much more time than an ACCA student, then he can pass. But an ACCA student achieves the same thing i.e. CA inter without that much hurdles & difficulties.
But as far as the level of knowledge of CA's & ACCA's is concerned, things might be different.
I personally think that all the subjects of mod A are a waste of time for CA students. Economics, Maths/Stats & English aren't required at all. ACCA never examine these things from its students & ACCA's are going as well in CA firms articles as CA inters.
& in C the communication skills paper isn't required to be so tough. Even after passing that horrible paper, CA's written communication skills seems to be same like others.
On the other hand, ACCA continously reviews its syllabus & papers. Now ACCA is completely dropping two papers & adding professional ethics & performance management.
The only use of syllabus of some business qual like CA shud be that the syllabus should be used its students in practical life, but ICAP is going on "lakeer kay faqeer" teaching old papers & subjects & not ready to take bold steps, to drop obsolete papers & add new ones
One thing is for sure too, ACCA's syllabus is much more dynamic, modern & caters to market requirements than ICAP's syllabus.
