ACCA vs CA

Assalm-o-Alikum,

I think this is not the reason that those who could not pass in CA entry test now reaching at core stage of ACCA, which demonstrates that ACCA is far easier than CA. It is all policy matters that how many has to pass and quite many has to fail. One of my friend who has attempted 5 times his last 3 papers of CA and yet got no success. Think, a person who has attempted 5 times 3 papers seems like has done PHD in these subjects but still fails.

ACCA is a very good qualification, first of all it gives you global recognition and it gives you more practical approach academically and even having no practical experience you are able to think practically. The recent drift toward recognition of ACCA by our lcoal and multinational companies demonstrate that a very bright future of ACCAians is coming on its way. And you know the other reason of popularity of ACCAs is that employers think that ACCAs are "Cheap labour with quality education", and this is very good for part qaulified and finalist in a long run. And the latest attempt of introducing Pakistani Law and Tax is a greater achievement of all ACCAs in Pakistan, a highly motivating factor indeed.

So all ACCAs, ready to go furhter on, WTO implementation is near and you are globally recognized and international companies will soon reach you but don't forget to improve your communication skills as it is like doing half ACCA and it will be a major tool of your success in future.

One more advantage of ACCA, which is usually not discussed and not regarded is the option to get an international bachelor, BSc in Applied Accounting form Oxford Brookes university, which can be received after completion of ACCA part II and submitting just 50 pounds and a project that will project your skill, which you have developed during your 2 parts study. Even after completion of part 3 of ACCA you have option to get an international MBA from the same Oxford Brookes university, which is number 4 in UK and ranked among top 24 universities in the world.

So guys there is no comparison of you (ACCA guys) with local CA guys. Studing ACCA like you are born privellaged. Remember, be handsome and make your place. CAs usually very less groomed because their instituion never worked on this aspect, which is very very important in today's world. IBA is an example, whoever joins IBA means he would have all tools of communicating and better position in industry. I would advice all fresh CAs that they should attempt ACCA exams parallel, if possible, otherwise completley switch and let the ICAP know that no more discrimination.

Oh...I didn't notice that I have been too long. Well will see again.

Allah Hafiz and take care.

Dear ideas unlimited

thanx for presenting some unlimited ideas, u rightly pointed out the importance of communication which is an integral and most often ignored part of any prof qualification whether it is CA or CMA.

i have slight reservation about the IBA issue, as we all know the IN-TAKE system there is so diff that only the elite (who are co-incidentally good at almost everything) get the admission and there nothing much left to groom them, infact they are just polished in there.

Regards

Azeem

Dear Azeem Shah,

I think you are really very Azeem (The Great) because only you have replied in connection of my longesttt post and it seems that "All SUST people are the part of this forum. I check everyday but nobody is responding even the moderator has no time to motivate me as I am a new member and there must be some feedback from her. My two posts are on the board and only one reply. Sick.

Well, very demotiviating gesture from the members of group.

Dear IU

thanx.

i have the same grievances, initially NASCAR and GUYBRUSH responded to my msgs but after my veryyyyyyy long response to their illogical comments they refused to have a positive discussion.

i also try to check this forum almost everyday....and most often gets disappointed to see NO new msg or some childish comments.

anyway we two can have some constructive discussion on this forum.

Hi
I think people are just bored of this topic. It can be debated until the cows come home, with neither side conceding defeat.

Though I wish ICAP would modernise and accept the other qualifications. This country needs more qualified people. They should increase their quotas. It may lower the average salary, but country would benefit.

Dear khizar

i dont think such discussion end out of boredom, we are not fighting here we are just sharing our knowledge, if u go through our earlier msgs i m sure u would find some reasonable comments from various people, i agree that some people often go OFF the track and thats the reason i took a slightly harsh route and later on apologised for causing any hard feelings.

i would appreciate if we can carry on this discussion in a positive way....for eg how WE (CA and ACCAs) can make a platform where we can raise our voices as ACCOUNTANTS not as a CA or ACCA.

for that i believe a voluntary organisation for accountants can play a big role whick serve accounting practice

ACCA itself should take interest to improve the worth of ACCAs, as fare as ACCAs and CAs are concerned, the professional jealousy is there, as i suppose there should be,
CAs in Pakistan are in dominant position so the question of joint voices does not arises,
There is platform of Accountants called SAFA, i dont know the position of ACCA in that Federation. But the one interesting thing i'd like to tell you that if a professional firm have Qualified ACCAs and that firm want to get listed on State Bank of Pakistan's Panel of Auditors, there is no place for ACCAs in the application form, and if u ask SBP that i want to mention that I have ACCAs, you will get the answer " It doesnt Count".
There may be some other examples like above,So do u expect that a CA will raise voice in above situation????????????? definately "NO",
thats why i said that ACCA itself should take steps to improve the value of ACCAs in Pakistan.

Further,
in my opinion the most important step which the ACCA must take, is to make the procedure of articleship like ICAP, bcaz you will find the comments about the ACCA student in the firms "keh ACCA walay to bhag jatay hain", so everybody hesitates to hire ACCA students as Audit Trainees.

Dear smraza

thank for the enlightening views, i thought this forum has gone asleep.

i m in a slight rush will come back to u shortly on that.

i appreciate and completely agree that it is ACCA's responsibility to establish a solid ground where ACCA's can work and prove their abilities however it is the person itself who creates his own worth in the market, in other words if i m good than no employer no matter who he is, can stop me. yes there is alot to be done on ACCAs part and i m very sure that this will happen and will happen very soon.

ur recommendation to have an Article System is worth considering, but there are pros and cons of everything.

kind regards

azeem

Dear All

I am a ACCA and also CMA from ICMAP. I own a small firm in Multan which I established last year. Their are three CAs who also established their firms within same period +-1 year. If I compare I think I take home if not more almost equal to them. On critically analyzing the situation I found out the basic fact of our market- your degree what ever it is - can get you only and only first job. After recruitment on first job, its the person and what has he learned. Same is from practise. Its only first few customers. But off course CAs get their first -first while other professionals get their first late. But after one year, its all equal. Its my market reputation that actually matters. Certainly I can not go into audit - this being restricted field, but there are so many other fields. To conclude I shall only say its man behind the gun which matters.

Well Ameer, I would like to publically acknowledge your achievements. May Allah bless you.

I think members should be open minded in praising upcoming professionals.

Contesting with a weeken is no achievement, striking against someone of your standing is the real competition and lets see who comes out to be the winner.

dear all and smraza

i think mr aamersikander's email support my argument that it is YOU who can make the difference, its like on ur business visiting card YOUR name appears before your qualification, no matter how many qualification u accumulate it will be YOUR name which will appear first.

i m not degrading the importance of qualification, it is important but NOT necessary and doesnot guarantee anything, whereas, if YOU are good then YOU are good FULL STOP, no matter what comes after ur name.

Kind Regards
