Mr. Toronto boy

I read another post of you earlier which made me thinking again about going to Canada. As of now I was seriously thinking of moving there after completing all of my ACCA exams hopefully next year. And transfer credits to CGA but I read that after 13 exemptions one still will have to give 7 papers which may take upto 3 yrs. Now this is only possible if one gets 13 exemptions. My main goal is to do CICA but as you said it is difficult to get inducted by ATOs. So I thought may be I should go for CGA after that I can go for CICA. As my understanding was that one only needs to give the final UFE exam. But again there is a requirement of ATOs work exp. Now assuming that I complete my CGA and have some experience under my belt in order to do CICA I will again have to apply as a student in ATOs. So is there any other quick way of getting CICA. Is it possible to get inducted in ATOs as a CGA level 4 student and get training for CICA?
Also, do you have any guess how many exemptions an ACCA can get from CGA?

Thankyou.

Dear isookvi

I think you have some misconception here (please feel no offence). An ACCA member directly gets full membership of CGA through MRA. There is no need for certain number of papers exemption.

By completing ACCA in Pakistan and by being ACCA member from Pakistan, you may get CGA's FULL membership directly. After that you may go for CICA's UFE directly, however there would be some other requirements like in typical number of credit hours etc. Also, CICA may or may not accept your experience AT THAT TIME. Still, you don't need to be "a student" in ATOs. You would ONLY need a relevant "job" in ATOs to satisfy CICA's experience requirement, which you can do with CGA. It might not be "student" status.

Dear, the option and way I suggested is to shorten your likely financial burden and personal hardships here, which would be a great obstacle in getting any designation directly here. Still, you are quite free to come here, start university education, and later CICA. Choice is yours.

Please spend some time on ICAO's website to understand requirements from CGA working toward CICA.

Dear Toronto_Boy

Seeing u help all these individual felt seriously nice..so here goes another one. I am currently doing ACCA and have passed 8 out of 14 papers (giving 2 more this dec), and along with that have been working with Ernst & young Pakistan (july 2007 to date). I am a Canadian citizen, have lived almost all my life in Pakistan. I was thinking of moving to Canada around August next year.. by then i would have completed my 3 years training required for ACCA and have hopefully passed few more papers. I hope i can also obtain the BSC degree (brooks) and apply for CGA. My question would be that, would i be able land a job in any of the Big 4 firms ( having experience of E&Y ) and should i move to Canada according to my plan or even earlier than that. And what are the best state/City to do all of the above.. I would prefer Toronto since i know some ppl there.

Thank You

Dear rehanhaq84

Due to the reasons written above on this thread, in my opinion you should complete ACCA in Pakistan and then come here and try your luck in Big4 or public accounting. At-least, with CGA's membership you would be able to get accounting jobs. I would prefer Toronto too.

I hope it helps.

one more thing which i just found out.. I am not eligible for Oxford Brooks Degree..can i get any bachelors degree from Canada after completing my ACCA. I've heard university of Windsor recognizes ACCA as equivalent 4 years Bachelors degree in accounting, or is there any university from which i can claim exemptions from courses and obtain bachelors degree.

Dear

On basis of ACCA, perhaps, universities could give you some exemptions in courses, but not for the whole degree like Oxford Brooks does.

I am not aware of any other arrangement like University of Windsor's. Please ask ACCA or targeted university directly.

Dear Waqas

Well... Canada has many job opportunities, but has many more very experienced and qualified professionals in almost every field. So, it is very competitive market. However, you would have required qualification in terms of CGA. You would have to do some "qismat azmai."

Dear risks are everywhere. How can I take your decisions like about OZ or Canada? Its totally upto you which country you select. You have to decide yourself. You may go to CICA, if you get a job in Canadian CICA approved firms to satisfy experience requirement.

I have already answered to similar questions on this forum. Please do some search, however, I would be much glad to reply if you have any unique or new question.

Hoping for the best.

Dear waqas

Unfortunately I don't know the exact answer about your Oxford Brookes degree. You may ask your questions at following immigration related forum. There are many nice Pakistani people there who would surely help you.

By the way, are you from the family of Mr. Sherbat Ali Changezi?

Dear Sajjad

In an earlier post, you wrote that your family would immigrate in 2 years. Thats why I suggested to complete as much as possible. Otherwise you may complete rest of your education here too.

No, I am neither his relative nor know him. Though I read about his participation and achievement in two wars.
