i never averaged out my marks in ACCA exams, they were all around 60 (+5or-5).

initially i was not allowed to submit my research project with OBU since i didn't send the required form. it took me around 8-10 months to convince them that i never received any such form. later i never considered it as a VALUE ADDITION course but more than that now i dont have enough time to prepare for the project.

i ve never seen any firm where they require a high percentage, some firms do prefer FIRST TIME PASSES which u can get even if you pass all ur papers at 50.

i always emphasis on a point that MARKS and PERCENTAGE are not importatnt in professional studies, the importatnt thing is to KNOW the subject and the ability to apply ur knowledge in practice.

So i t refers that if we Qualify then probably the employer wont enquire us abt our marks......

But what about this scenario as posted by Maani Bhai...

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Tahoma, Arial" id=quote>quote<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>consider a case...If me and u both are ACCA qualified...I got 70% in all papers and u got 55%...
we re the only candidates for a particular job...
employer will prefer u or me...
suppose one more thing that our interviews got equal points... <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Tahoma, Arial" size=2 id=quote>

ur Comments.....

Thanks........

depends upon the employer. in general employers go for the candidate best suited for their organisation in all respects. Exam marks doesnt guarantee a higher level of IQ. Experienced employers/interviewers are aware of this fact, they assess the candidates' abilities during the interview and pass on their judgement based on that.

So if candidates have equal Qualifcations and gain equal marks in the interview then U mean that it will be Employers subjective Judjment abt the Candidate which will Guarantee them there Job.....

Thanks........

in such an un-realistic situation employer will use his head more than anything

nothing can gurantee anything even if you have a PHD under your belt. it is like your 3 hour exam where examiner doesn't know how much you studied for that paper, all that matters is what you put on paper in those 3 hours, likewise, it is how you carry yourself during the interview matters the most.

yes you can say in such RARE cases interviewers' judgement can be the decisive element. even if he/she asks for your exam marks it doesn't really explain much about your abilities.

my friend nothing comes cheaply in this world, i was an exception as they had a proof that they sent some kind of form to me and i had a proof that i never received it. later we both agreed that it was lost in the post and they allowed me to submit my project but unfortunately by then i got myself over-occupied with other things. other than that i dont think they cause any trouble.

i dont think its a good idea to issue marks once u have passed a paper.Professional degree is not achieved by mishap or luck.if u are pass than pass,no need to tell how many marks have u achieved.
Icap follows this and never issue marks to students who have passed.
if marks are allocated, then definitely employer will look at them and student with more marks will definitely be prefered.it just like,if u get 700 marks in F.A/F.S.C only then u can expect to get an admission in GC AND if u passed FA with 500 marks then no need to apply.

Dear bilal

if i agree with the above then one question comes in my mind WHY does ICAP bother to publish GRADES like A, B ,C temp or permanent exemptions and why is it switching to a more LOGICAL examination system of publishing the marks. i do agree that no qualifications comes in fluke, one has to work really hard but the later part is a bit doubtful. if an institute follows a crystal clear Examination System then why not publish the marks which can be of great guidance to students who fail marginally, they would know how close they were.
this will also declines all the allegations of QUOTA or Market based result system by ICAP. as regards the employers asking for the individual marks attained in particular subjects, i dont think any employer asks such a ridiculous question specially if he or she is a professional interviewing another professional.

kind regards
