Coming to the more complex issue, Yes I maintain that we need IJTEHAD on the defination of Interest in today's world, and believe me there has been some work on this. Maulana Taqi Usmani for one. If you cannot understand or come to terms with this fact, despite being related to commerce/finance I am sorry to say there is no point on discussing this any more. I think this should make more sense to you than say compared to a lay man. I can throw some light on this , if, if you actually want to read it.
Just answer one question, what do you propose to do ? no interest ? If you can answer this and come to terms with the fact that we need to establish some ground rules here. Have you for a second given thought to Dr. M's model of the Islamic Dinar, I am sure you haven't !
The Quran says pay zakat and perform your prayers.. but does it say what percentage ? or how many ? that comes from Hadith and interpetations. Am I making any sense here ??
