Initially when I started studying tax I felt that everythimg is going over my head, but slowly and gradually everything fell in its place.
About the salary numericals, you can download papers from ICAP's site or you can get them from PAC's blue book. As you'll practice those 18 to 20 numericals, all the details like when to include 45% percent exemption, would be automatically absorbed. And I believe that you should read from the Ordinance, because thats how you learn the language.
