hi Dt,
you seem to have learned your sarcasm skills recently since you keep using them in places where they are least required. it's the second time you have mentioned my statement which i wrote to faraz, and which it seems bothers you for some bizzare reason. lets not forget the fact that our friend Faraz was seeking information regarding the profession and was presumably not well informed or familiarized even with the basic knowledge regarding actuarial sciences. with that in view the statement that 'i could provide him with all the info he'd need regarding actuarial sciences' at that particular moment was correct. ofcourse i dont have much idea about what courses have to be studied in what detail and what exam has to be taken in what time at what date and what the exam fee for the SOA or IoA is or what the City Univ. or the LSE procedures and techniques and course outilnes etc are. I'm sure Faraz didnt need to know all that at that particular time.
The info i have regarding your profession is because i have been resarsching and measuring my wings to start myself. of course at this stage i dont have enough info regarding the exemptions graduates or post graduates in actuarial subjects from city or LSE get from IoA or SOA, i dont think i need to worry about that until i actually start with some training body.
and i can be sure i can get more information from you regarding the profession since we can share views and information on this wonderful forum.
thanks.

Couple of things really,
1. I didn't know the fact that you knew Faraz beforehand, and were targetting your answers, the one about not asking foolish questions and wasting others time... Therefore, I think I got the overall impression as not being adequate, keeping in view the standards of this forum.
2. Again leading upto the point 1, when you said that you knew everything about the actuarial sciences, I am sure this would not only be me but there would be many readers, who would and should get the impression that you have all the required knowledge. And I would further like to add that until unless you don't know the person personally, it is very hard to judge the level of knowledge about the person who asked such question.
3. Regarding 'bizarre reasons' I think my above arguments are self-explanatory.
4. I have always believed in having a helicopter view of an industry before actually putting any step into it. I am sure you wouldn't enter into a house whose back room has fire, if you knew before hand. OK I am assuming the case that you were not a fireman or anyone trying to help the people who are in that house. This relates to your comment that you would find out more about the profession, with regards to the exams, exemptions etc, once actually embarking your career and when you would get the training contract.
(I am hoping you didn't take this another bizarre attempt of 'sarcasm'.)

ok, i seriously am starting to feel that you have some serious problems and issues. there's a thing called comprehending a statement and actually trying to understand what someone is saying or writing and then responding accordingly; that is what i did for Faraz. i dont know him personally but was actually able enough by the grace of our Lord to understand what he was asking for and what he needed to know. there's a thing called communication which we humans indulge in all the time through different means and are thus able to understand each other. let's just ask faraz if he has any problems with my answers. and you on the other hand being a student of actuarial sciences were not able to answer what he needed to know. remember your post on the thread before i even registered on this forum? it went something like 'cant help you with your queries mate, but will help you out if you want any more info...' for cryin out loud! and when i turn up and let the guy on some info that he actually is looking for at the stage he is at, you start feeling the aches.
by the way, i never said i had 'all' the info or 'knew everything' about actuarial sciences; i just told him 'i could provide him with all the info he might need', and that maybe either directly from my mind and memory or from a book, a person, a website, a CD, a video or a career counsellor or dean of a univ or pres of an institute or society or whatever!
and, who are you to judge whether my knowledge or statements are fit for this forum's standards!? we are not making legal statemens or constitutions here. and if you think anyone asking a question is stupid or wastes other people's time, you are most welcome to leave the forum and use you precious time elsewhere. it's not anyone else's problem that you are so paranoid that if anyone asks you a general question related to the topics that are being discussed you feel as if your knowledge is being 'tested' or are being made fun of. seriosuly you seem stuck up.
i have only been on this forum a few days and this is the kind of people i run into. so much for a place for professionals and a professional environment. most of your posts that i have come across so far portray your paranoid and bizzare attitude. other members would be witness to this. it's not the first time i have joined a forum, most forums have a few ppl like you, but no one takes the crap you know. either sober up or keep quite or else you'll start being ignored and hated in some time.
and i wondewr how you manage to waste so much of your time finding faults with others on the forum instead of studying actuarial sciences. cause everyone knows it's a tough field of study.
and regarding my not having enoguh knowledge about actuaria sciences and embarking upon a career without having enough knowledge; if a person is applying to join the army, his concern and the are which he/she needs to know most about is the initial selection procedures and the training period and institutions and what standards are maintained and what type of courses are sudied. he/ she would probably not and infact does not need to worry about the exam a captain has to take to be promoted to major. similarly a pilot trying to get a commercial pilots license to fly commercial planes needs only to know how to fly small planes and not 747s. that comes later on. a CA student at the begining does not need to know what time it takes post qualification to become a fellow member from an associate member. although once ppl join a particular field they start learning things like that on their own.
I seriously assure you i have no problems with you at all. i do not wish to indulge in useless arguments and create a bad atmosphere and hope this forum remains a friedly place with friendly people helping each other out in a friendly environment. I hope my comments would not offend you any more than they are meant to; they are only in response to your concerns.
to a better atmosphere and friendship in future,
sincerely
your fellow member.
