Dear Kamran,

I 100% agree your statement that
"remember my words, there is nothing like "student friendly". The tougher are the conditions, the sharper you will potentially be. Easy working hours, lesser work pressure and flexible targets ruin the students' training in the longer runs."

but kamran sb. with due respect i would like to draw your attention to some basic responsibilities of firms towards their trainees.

sir first of all students are trainees' and they need proper training at each hierarchical level (junior to manager), being part of big 4 and having discussion with friends in various small firms i feel that most of the CA firms (excluding big 4) are consciously or unconsciously over looking this basic need of their staff. trainees in the firm are forced to have self learning experience and not every person have this ability to learn things at their own from past working paper files.

i agree that training should be tougher but on the other hand trainees need proper time for their studies as well. proper compensation should be their for late hours working n its not too much to demand. n compensation should be in way of proper study leaves for the exams. i know firms have leave compensation policies but it has no use if trainee gets only 15 to 20 days leave for his first or second attempt of final modules. it can be judged through analysis of passing ratios in Big 4 and other firms.

and thirdly the Out of Pocket thing it should not be looked as firm's revenue that in most of the firms is treated like that. Kamran sb. trainees have "choti choti khushian" they feel motivated when they are being appraised for their good work and are guided (not abused) for any mistake (due to lack of proper training).

I hope my views will be taken positively

Thankx and regards,

Shakeel Badar
