AICPA and CIMA councils have approved to make new designation CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant). New CGMA designation to give management accountancy a higher profile in the United States as well as across the globe. It is expected to be globally recognized management accounting designation. I think that now CIMA members will have greater employability in US.

It is proposed that the new CGMA letters will be issued to members early in 2012. AICPA members with at least 3 years working experience in management accounting or Financial Management role would qualify for an accelerated route to obtaining the new designation. However, CIMA members would automatically qualify as CGMA. Holders of other professional qualification(s) will be provided certain route to become CGMA (which will be announced later by 2012 probably)
