The 'popularity' of CA/ACCA has grown in the past year in Pakistan...

Being a student myself, I've observed a lot of people entering CA/ACCA only because they think if CA would take 6 years minimum and MBA would take the same time now (as graduation is of four years), then why not go for CA!

However, they have no clue whatsoever about the tricks the so-called Baba-e-ICAP's would pull.

I feel sorry that I actually have to say this, but a lot of people are on the verge of 'career suicide' who are studying CA just for the sake of studying something.

Hi friends

Yes the main factor is to earn high salary, when this is combine with the given below factor , students started to do blunder

* Any buddy in the family who is allready qualified.
* Inner revolutin to show off they r doing CA (This is notted in early students but latter when they see at the back much time has gone...)
* Parents/relatives wish to do CA
* Friends opinions & group study concept
* Finally overestimation about ownself

Keeping the thing as notified by sumaan, Baba-e-ICAP's , in the view one should decide wether they can do this certification or not.
There should be flexibility in career planning too. You should have clear concept of time, money (support), skills which u have.
After certain period you should do some thing diffeent but it does not mean not to do CA u should if u have all the resources keeping Baba-e-ICAP's in your front.

It is very sad, mostly genius students who are just CA inter & could not clear Professional stage( still no doubt they r genius) , have growth at some extent .

I will suggest
"Keeping the thing as notified by sumaan, Baba-e-ICAP's , in the view one should decide wether they can do this certification or not".

Yes attractive salary may be one of the reasons, but you get the attractive salary after qualifying CA, but the policy of ICAP (only God Knows) for passing the student is discouraging people to get into the CA field, thats why student feel little bit hesitation to join CA, and this policy of ICAP is also creating too much problems for CA firms as they are facing staff shortage problems,

now come back to the topic, the main reason due to which the people still join the CA field is the employment rate, the UNemployment rate of CA is ZERO %, as i have seen most of CAs who are doing 2 or 3 jobs at the same time, they have their firms, and they are providing consultancy to one or two companies at the same time,

dont u agree with this ?????

My question to u all is that is it really true that ICAP even fails students that pass the exams? I certainly dont think so. I do agree that they've a tough passing policy but by no way this means that they fail students who deserve to pass. I am of the opinion that before any comments are made on ICAP's passing policy, a review should be conducted as to how they determine the passing criteria of a student. A tough passing policy is desireable as we all are aware as to the salary packages of CA's. This can be proven by taking a look at the no. of qualified ACCA's and their remuneration. People there is a simple economic concept the more the supply, the lower the price and vice versa. Think about it. Probably ICAP is right and we who blame them are wrong.

I believe two 'wrongs' don't make a 'right'... Its very easy to determine if ICAP has a tough passing policy or if it allows a specific number of students to clear the examinations... However, I do believe they're doing the right thing by maintaining the supply and demand level, or rather keeping the demand level a bit high... But their actions can not be justified fairly... The thing that is wrong 'is wrong'...

This has been a hot issue over past several years... Don't you think ICAP itself is aware of these discussions??... Why don't they take a bold step and explain students the 'proper marking criteria' and 'passing standards'...

I strongly am of the opinion that if they want to give CA students a hard time to clear examinations, they should give tougher examination questions or should increase the passing marks quota, so that things may 'apparently' atleast look fair...

But that's just my opinion, who cares about it... Babas-e-ICAP will do what they think is 'correct'. (Feel sorry for CA students)

My friends, ours is the only field in which there is total uncertainty about a person's future even after six years of hardwork and study!! I mean ke isnaan jiss level of uncertainty par 6 saal pehle khara hua hota hai, bilkul waisey hi 6 saal baad bhi hota hai. And its just because of this totally non-understandable policy of the ICAP junta.

No other profession has this much uncertainty about it. I mean, i havent ever seen a person spending six years in a profession and not eventually getting his degree/certification. Doctors, engineers, IT specialists, MBAs all get their degrees in the end. But this is not the case with us poor CAs!

My teacher, now a very renowned RAET director spent around 16 years appearing in ICAP papers before finally succeeding. I wonder what thoughts must go through his mind when he used to see ICAP result and see that his students got passed and he did not. I remember the time when i qualified, i couldnt even face him and tell him that i passed because he hadn't. But he was himself so gracious in calling me up and congratulating me and i will never forget that. A hallmark of a true gentleman!

Hi

Now the trend is changed. I know many people who joined this profession because they want to be its member. Even if u don't qualify the exams, the articles alone give u alot of professional touch which u can utilize in your career. And one must know CA is the highly professional qualification around the globe.
