Are accountants people inclined towards autism???

what i have observed that accountants bear some properties extraordinary to normal persons............

A good article in newsweek appeared in its last issue

Cambridge University psychologist Simon Baron-Cohen has a thesis that bears on all these questions. In a bold new book called “The Essential Difference,” he de-fines autism as an imbalance between two kinds of intelligence the kind used to understand people (he calls it “empathizing”) and the kind used to understand things (“systemizing”). Though most of us have both abilities, studies suggest that females are better than males at empathizing, while males have a stronger knack for systemizing. By Baron-Cohen’s account, autism is just an exaggerated version of the male profile—an extreme fondness for rule-based systems, coupled with an inability to intuit people’s feelings and intentions. The truth may not be quite that simple, but the concepts of “E” and “S” offer a powerful new framework for thinking about boys, girls and autism. If Baron-Cohen is right, autism is not just a disease in need of a cure. It’s a mental style that people can learn to accommodate. Sometimes it’s even a gift.

On a serious note, in the age of the Human Genome Project and all the advances in genetic engineering, where literally everything from having a common cold to becoming a body-building freak is accredited to your genes, i still believe that there quite a lot of traits which we acquire from our environment. And in my opinion, these E and S types of people are more a product of the environment they live in than from any genetic or hereditary malfunction as the MSNBC article tried to say.

Like i would say for myself that yes, i was brought up to be the cool, calm logical (read acountant!) type of a fellow by my parents. And the environment i was provided was one which would prepare a future S type. Similarly my sister was brought up in a fashion where she she was expected to interact on a more personal level with everybody and accordingly she is an excellent reader of faces and expressions.

Although i am a great fan of genetics, but atleast in this case, environment plays a more active part than one's bilogical make up.
