agreed with guybrush,
dont see lot of CA, compare the demand for CAs and Supply of CAs, and obviously ICAP seriously keeps in view the demand and supply of CAs.
btw. irfan2003 are u worried about the future of your kids or grandsons

Guybrush and Smraza are correct... I've come to know that before ICAP examinations, to keep intact the significance and prominence of CA together, ICAP goes to the extent of exploring the current market of CAs... They then draft what you call the demand and supply curve and mark students according to that...

Whatever the demand, will be the supply or it might even be less... And thats how things have been in the previous god knows how many years... And probably will be the same in the next god knows how many years.

Hi Irfan
Consider the following-

Job wise--- job wise actuarial science is best qualification caz there is only 17 actuarial in pakistan, you can be 18th and can find job very easily (I think so).

Salary wise--- if we compare the CA and actuarial science as salaries basis, we'll find actuaries are earning much better then the CA people.

Tuition wise----unfortunately there is no any institute of actuarial science in the Pakistan. But lot of tuition institute in Pakistan for CA. Therefore you can get tuition for CA in Pakistan but not for actuarial science.

I think actuarial science is better qualification then the CA. If you need more information about actuarial science then contact with Sumaaan. I hope sumaaan can give you better advice regarding actuarial science.

Regards
S Dar

The scope of CA is not wearing down, its just that it has become a bit more popular these days... There's a lot of intake of students, and because the institutions here are have a money making motive, doesn't mean ICAP would compromise its reputation just for the sake of extra money... You'll see within a few years time, that when people see they aren't able to clear CA, they'll go back to graduation, as not everyone can afford to give CA 8-10 years.

However, at the moment, Chartered Accountants are those who are 'running' the accountancy markets and its not Actuaries. Coz in Pakistan, the scope of Actuaries at the moment is limited... Actuaries basically specialize in pension funds and insurance... Both of which have a limited scope to an extent, whereas you might find accountancy students/qualifieds (ICMA, CIMA) in management levels of multinationals as well...

Having said that, the significance of an Actuary CANNOT be diluted... They are certainly paid a lot more than Chartered Accountants, CMAs, etc...

People in Pakistan don't even manage to fully complete Actuary due to it being relatively complicated and tough...

But the question again is, are you yourself prepared to invest the next 10 years of your life in studying for Actuarial Sciences, bearing in mind you might not even be able to become fully qualified?

Scope of CA will never down INSHALLAH coz when demand is in excess to supply of something as in case of Chartered Accountants then its scope will never fall down

There is a will there is a way.

There are certain exceptions... But it would be better if you follow this link

I'll paste one of the job ads here

Irfan here are some jokes to help u decide

What's an actuary?
An accountant without the sense of humour.

Why do some accountants decide to become actuaries?
They find bookkeeping too exciting.

What do actuaries do to liven up their office party?
Invite an accountant.
