Salam to all

Well i think ACAs are preferrd over ACMAs.

Companies Ordinance 1984 prohibits Public company, subsidary of public company and a private company having share capital not less than 3 million from conducting audit through personnel other than Chartered Accountant.

It means that ACMA cant do audit of aforementioned companies!

ICAP is the best.

hi

i dont know how can we compare professional qualifications, they are equally good, equally respectable, no matter who can audit and who cannot it has nothing to do with the prestige infact it is a function of prejudice.

azeem

I agree there can be no comparisons between degrees such as CA and ACMA,.. CA and ACCA yes, but that only on the academic forum.

What people usually draw are parallels between qualifications is on its perception in the market place and the kind of 'respect' that it may command in society at large (apart from the professional circles). For instance any Lay man (in pakistan)would know what the initials CA mean as opposed to ACMA, ACCA, CPA etc. Similarly any one remotely associated with 'commerce'/accounting is familair with A F Ferguson. I have actually experienced this in remote Governmant offices.. staff immediately recognised 'FERGOUSON'. This how ever in no way means that the rest of the Big 4 lag behind in their working or clientle etc.

ACMA has had the misfortune of always having people at the helm of affairs who are also ICAP members and I think that sort of dilutes the whole interest. No wonder ACMA is receeding behind ACCA now... (the private sector)

How come we cant have any comparison, as we all must have done some, didnt u before joining ICAP, U must have compared it with other qualifications such as ACCA ICMA.

I don't believe Sher afghan Malik present ICMAP's president has dual qualification. On the other hand Zafar Iqbal Sobani newly ellected president of ICAP is fellow member of ICMAP.

I think comparisons and competitions are necessary. It induces the people to change their state of affairs if these are satisfactory.

comparing what???

yes i did compare the SUBJECTS taught under each qualifications and analysed what suits me.........there was no other comparison.

comparisons as to the MARKET VALUE, EASE OF PASSING EXAMS etc are dependant on country's economy/prof prejudice and fairness of examination systems.

kind regards

azeem

To be frank i did sit for apptitude tests for both ICAP and ICMAP (and passed both <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>)and finally decided in for ICAP, primarily because of its market repo, greater acceptability, prjudice toward ACMA. Most important of all I wanted to be an auditor and was only mildly interested towards 'Management accounting'. Moreover, a lot of jobs in line with management accounting are still manned by CAs.,, so didn't see the point there.

Ofcourse the ACCA option came in later, which i went for ofcourse simply because of its 'global recognition'.

You have all the right to compare and see what suits your requirements, resources, apptitude and future career plans.

hey ppl wht r u comparing,ACMA is a cost and managment accountant,a specialized certification in cost accountant, and charterd accountant is specalize in audit, tax etc.
so i dont think any comparison is possible,as far as market value comparison is concerned then why dont u compare MBA,MCS,mCOM with ACA.
