Hi,

I am new to this field, so need help.
Actually, I will complete my b.com this year in Pakistan and hopefully will be immigrating to Canada by next year. My problem is whether I should register foe ACCA in Pakistan or Canada. Please advise. Moreover, please guide me if there are some other courses that I can go for in Canada and also if I do ACCA, will I have to get license in Canada before applying for the job.

Need help,

It does not matter much whether you enroll in Pakistan or in Canada for ACCA. However, as you are only BComm (assuming 2 years) and hoping to move to Canada soon, I would say you should complete relevant Masters degree like MCom or MBA before moving, cause 3 Canadian accounting associations require degree equivalent to Canada which is at-least 3 years or mostly 4 years. Otherwise you would have to complete degree as per Canadian requirements first. With Pakistani Masters degree you can avoid such situation.

Though you can do ACCA here, but usually Canadian employers prefer Canadian designations, but ACCA courses can be transfered toward CGA, if you like to do it.

You can complete your designations or degree while on job by part time study. Designation is not required for applying jobs. Mostly, people complete designations while on job here.

I hope it helps.

Best Wishes

Other careers in Canada?...Well it is very open end question...What can I say. Sorry.

There could be many, depending on your aptitude. I am sorry, I am not a career counselor. Accounting is good but difficult and highly competitive field here, specially for new enterents.
