hi

plz comment

is is good to spend full articles period in tax department???
???.................???

as in most of firms there is no rotation practice between departments,
although ICAP regulations prescribed to do part articles in audit and part in others
but unfortunately it not really happen.

It is certainly no good for a trainee to spend his entire articles in Tax department of any firm..but there are exceptions...if you want to have name of a Big4 associated with you and you think that it is better to have their name than the experience of audit then you can spend time in Tax.
But Tax practice is not applicable in Middle East so it would become difficult to get job in Middle East. However, in Pakistan if you like Tax then you have got a scope.

Dear,

Audit is the area which really makes you a professional.

I don't mean to undermine the importance of other areas.

But audit is a must.

Rightly mentioned that practically rotation is an alien concept for most of the firms including big names. Unfortunately, training regulations so far have not brought any serious changes. I don't know why firms are so hesitant when it comes the matter of rotation.

Of course, whole of articles in tax is the last thing a student likes in his or her articles. As kamran sb mentioned audit is compulsory and I think at least half of ones articles should be spent in audit.
